Monday scent of the day 7/25

Posted by Robin on 25 July 2022 113 Comments

It's Monday and Hot Fudge Sundae Day. Birthdays: Josephine Tey, Elias Canetti, Johnny Hodges, Iman. What fragrance are you wearing?

I'm heading to Maine today, wearing a drop of Aedes de Venustas Copal Azur.

Reminder: 7/29 is International Tiger Day...wear whatever you think fits.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Still wafting Corsica Furiosa as I finish up my work shift. I sprayed with abandon last night, because it’s sooo good! Had a decent shift, will hit the hay and try to sleep, but it’s getting hot up in here!

Never was able to get to the Tauer site on my phone, even after backing it up. Oh well, money saved I guess.

Happy Monday, hope your weeks starts out with strong coffee (or tea!), a hearty breakfast, and your favorite perfume!

Yeah, I went to that site Robin suggested, which said it was me, not Tauer. However, I tried all the stuff they suggested and none of it worked (it also doesn’t make sense, since it’s not limited to one computer, it doesn’t work on any of my devices or my spouse’s, and doesn’t work on other internet connections either). Oh well — as you said, money saved. 🙂

It makes sense only because it could be a dns problem with a specific isp, which is a real pita to fix.

I know this only because of users who have been unable to reach NST in the past, sometimes for weeks.

We have a break from the heat and it’s cool enough to have the windows open. The cat and I are loving it.
Wearing Seville l’Aube today, I love it so much. I can’t remember when I last had a hot fudge sundae, it’s been decades.

Day four of a five-day hot streak, and thank goodness for air conditioning. I am in the magnificently peculiar Krizia Uomo, bitter herbs and pine and leather (among many other things).

Alas, no. I suspect they’re not going to flower at all. I don’t know much about plants but the last time I had a balcony, it got direct sunlight from noon until sundown, so anything I planted bloomed like gangbusters with no care at all: this lot, I’m watering every day and supplementing with fertilizer, and there are enormous leaves (particularly the nicotiana), but no flowers and not even the intimation of buds. It might still happen, though I doubt it. But now I know! Next year I’ll just grow lots of herbs, which are doing fine (ironically, the dill is about to flower, for all the good that’ll do me: at least I’ll have seeds for next year).

I bought night-scented stock seeds (because I’ve grown them before and the scent is so intoxicating) but the packet said they require full sunlight and I took it at its word. Maybe I got the wrong kinds of stocks? Probably next spring I’ll plant the seeds, just because I have them, and see what happens. It’s all a learning experience. I’ll keep your list in mind for next year.

Some fertilizers will promote leaf growth at the expense of flowers. I don’t remember if high nitrogen is good or bad.

    Safe travels Robin!
I’m in Un Jardin de Mediterranee from a small decant, the only perfume I brought with me. I’m at my parents house for the next 3 days. The weather is much cooler here than it was at home and I’m loving it. Yesterday I dropped my teenager off at summer camp, I’ll see her in 3 weeks. My college daughter has been there working and met us as we arrived. It was so good to see her.😊 She was even able to get 12 hours off for an evening visit and sleepover! I brought her back this morning.

I tried my bbw soap today in At the Beach. I did not find it drying. It was fragrant but didn’t linger after my shower. I wouldn’t pay the $8.50 regular price but for the sale price it’s good. It’s a big bar, I expect it will last a long time.

I like it more in summertime because the fig note is greener on my skin. During winter it becomes much sweeter and the salty vibe that I actually I love from Womanity dissappears. I think it is worthy to try it in hot weather.

SOTM is my beloved Iroaz. So peaceful. Tried two of the Jardins over the weekend (Sur le Nil and Méditerranée) and liked them both much better than I did on first tests. Guess I’d better revisit M. Li and whatever the fourth one was in the set (Sur La Lagune, I think) to see if my opinion on those has changed as well. We’re having a very hot week here, so thank goodness for a/c.

I have Jardin sur La Toit which I think comes before La Lagune. It s quite pale and has an element of fruit, pear, and sweet green rather than fresh green. I like it in summer when it’s warm but it doesn’t carry through layers of jumpers so no good in winter.

Funny how impressions change, isn’t it. I hadn’t noticed my tastes changing really, but when I think about it there are a few notes that I’m enjoying more and more lately — roses, and certain aromatic scents that used to bug me, are now some of my favorites.

Commando and in need of deodorant on a hot, muggy day. Tmi maybe? Lol But the brand I used didn’t last long. You get what u pay for I guess. Beverage of the day..iced hot choco. I put a lil Coke in it to see how that would go lol. Was better without it. Lol. Remember Cinnamon Coke? It was so good..too bad limited edition. Anyone know of a good, scented deodorant that works well? What’s your fave?

Happy birthday Elias Canetti. I can remember when Picador books first came to my town and how amazing the circular stands were, and how exotic the authors names and the great cover art. Authors like Canetti and Robert Musil but also travel writers like Jonathan Raban, and Bruce Chatwin. I read all of Canetti but my favourite was the third volume of his memoir, The Play of his Eyes, set in 1930s Vienna and all its references to Viennese life and arts.

Wearing Essences Insensées 2015 today…the jasmine one.

Thanks for all the closet cleaning support on Saturday. It was a bit like performing an exorcism. 😉 I spent hours pulling out accumulated crap, shoeboxes, etc. and even went through some old boxes on the top shelf…the spirit really held on.

Going through stuff is so tough not b/c of the physical effort but b/c of the mental and emotional as you sort through old things you have attachments to but no long have a need for…it’s all rather gut wrenching. But I prevailed and can now enter the aptly named walk-in closet…though I bet that spirit will come back some day… 👻😅

My mom is doing better and settling in. She had an episode of severe confusion and I went through all the anxiety that comes with not knowing if it’s temporary and brought on by the stress of moving, or something that needed to be addressed immediately. I started her on MCT oil – she is much better, but one will never know if she wouldn’t have been better without it as well. Old age is cruel.

Another stinking hot & humid day here. But it no longer feels like a blast furnace going outside. I got caught in a thunderstorm this afternoon when I stepped outside the vet’s office. Teflon kitty was in for her annual physical. Mostly good news for her, but it looks like she has a tooth that needs to be pulled in the future. 🙀

    SOTD = more Timbuktu.

I will send my today’s weather your way. The humidity is gone! ( at least for today)
I hope Teflon kitty isn’t feeling any tooth pain.

Temps are way down after the thunderstorms, but it’s still muggy out. Your cooler, drier weather is coming in tomorrow, thanks!

Same here! The temps went down after the rain, but it is still horribly humid! I think the worst is over!

Poor Teflon kitty. My Sam lost one of hers (I suspect she knocked it out during a case of the zoomies), and my vet told me that cats’ jaws are much better at dealing with missing/broken/pulled teeth than humans’ jaws are.

Tef doesn’t seem to be in much pain right now. She’s eating and drinking as usual. But cats are masters par excellence at hiding issues.

I would have it done ASAP, but suspect that Mr. Jalapeno would have a s-fit about the price tag.

I like the mostly good news re: Teflon kitty.

I got lucky in NYC and managed to miss the heavy thunderstorms!

Teflon has a couple of health situations that we are keeping an eye on. Those seem to be stable at present. She was NOT happy today, and even hissed at the vet tech and the vet.

SOTD is Kilian Moonlight in Heaven from a sample I forgot I had. Thai coconut mango rice, with grapefruit that makes the whole thing lighter and brighter than I would expect from a coconut mango rice frag (or maybe I’m just scarred by the mid-90s Mango Madness from BBW). Had I found this last week I would have worn it for the CP. I like it more than I want to given the $$$.

Tea today is a delicious Nilgiri Tiger Hill from Clipper Ship. Malty but also clean and bright.

Highly recommend the tea. Took some convincing for me to try it because I thought it wouldn’t be malty enough. I was wrong.

    Late to the party!

SOTD = Chanel Les Exclusifs 31 Rue Cambon

L❤️ve! I copied pfl67 from her SOTD on Saturday.

In other news, I went to Wegmans to get my $20 worth of MegaMillions Lottery tickets. You got to be in it to win it!

On the way home, I almost got T-boned by a very reckless driver. Not sure what she was thinking or doing but there’s a 4-way stop and I had already come to a full stop and started to go when I saw a white SUV come barreling down the street with not a care in the world. Thank God and I really mean Thank God I swerved and no one was worse for the wear. The woman just waved sorry. I really think she should get ticketed but I don’t know how I would force her to stop and face the music?

To tomorrow then … you may be speaking to the next millionaire 💰!

Had to go into the office today, which is fragrance free, so I just wore a couple dabs of Hermes Pamplemousse Rose to the chest under my shirt. Tonight I put on Daphne by LARO, a sub-line of L’Aromatica. I’ve been super tired all day after not sleeping great in the early morning hours, so I can’t wait for bedtime.

Sneaky fragrance wearing! 🤫 or maybe you just naturally smell like Hermes. 🤣

Hope you get a good night’s sleep tonight.
