The (almost) daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 22 July 2022 12 Comments

From Panier des Sens, a solid shampoo bar in Regenerating Honey, for dry hair. "This mild ultra-foaming, pH-neutral, sulphate-surfactant- and silicone-free, eco-friendly shampoo cleans, nourishes and protects dry hair right down to the tips. Light yet deliciously-sweet creamy honey that mellows almond flowers and sandalwood." $14 for 75g.

Tempting. I purchased a solid shampoo and a solid conditioning bar from Lush the other day. Past experience with similar products was not great, but the extremely hirsute manager at my local, with thick, shiny black hair and beard both below his belly button, talked me into trying the latest. Honey and almond scented shampoo sounds lovely. When I run out of the current products in the shower, I’ll try the Lush.

I haven’t had any luck with solid shampoos. Let us know if lush is a good buy

I have not had great luck either. I meant to try the Aveda shampure bar but have not seen it in a store.

I got cold feet until I read that bar soap is better for the environment than the bazillion bottles I go through.

I’ll take one for the 🌎

        I love rationalization.

The Lush shampoo bar I tried a while ago left my hair like straw. But I use it as soap in the shower, so that’s fine. It smells great.

I have had good results with this brand of solid shampoos and conditioners. They smell good too. I like the minty one in summer

Dang it! I lost my long bitchy comment.

    Pros: it cleaned my hair

    Cons:

    1. Smells like Burt’s Bees—just because honey is an ingredient doesn’t mean it has to smell like Burt’s

    2. I paid $8 shipping. They threw it in a very large FedEx padded ENVELOPE and tossed in some hand cream. And sent it FedEx ground. On the trip from Florida to Washington State in a huge janky FedEx padded ENVELOPE in a hot ass truck or two traveling cross country+, the hand cream exploded, and the little cardboard box the shampoo bar was in disintegrated into a greasy gooey mess (I thought the shampoo bar had melted). So forget about gifting that thing if you buy a new one and they don’t bother to put it in a wee box but in a plastic janky ENVELOPE, because that business is gonna be a mess.

Just buy Burt’s bar soap and slap it on your head. Better value and less mess.
