Tuesday scent of the day 7/5

Posted by Robin on 5 July 2022 163 Comments

It's Tuesday and National Graham Cracker Day. What fragrance are you wearing?

I've moved 2 steps from Chanel No. 5: yesterday was Boy Chanel, today is The Beat by Burberry Elixir Parfum. Tea at the moment is Upton Dikom Estate Assam + Numi Chinese Breakfast + cacao nibs + sprinkle of nutmeg.

Reminder: on 7/8, for Kevin Bacon's birthday, we're doing a variation on six degrees of separation. In place of film, you can use perfumer and/or brand, and we're starting with Chanel No. 5. Can you get to the fragrance you want to wear without going more than six steps from Chanel No. 5? (example: Chanel No. 5 -> Chanel Paris Paris (by Olivier Polge) -> Burberry Brit Rhythm (by Olivier Polge, Dominique Ropion & Anne Flipo -> L'Artisan Ananas Fizz (by Anne Flipo) -> L'Artisan Timbuktu (by Bertrand Duchaufour) -> Aedes Copal Azur; that would be 5 degrees of separation.)

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Note: the Bernardaud Roseraie Teapot ("Flowers have consistently been the motif of choice of painters and Roseraie experiments with romantic arrangements, exuberant intertwined branches, and golden accents to illuminate the design and emphasize the delicate hues of the flowers. [...] Original pieces from this sumptuous collection may be found at the Montmartre Museum in Paris. Handmade in France") is $955 at Scully & Scully.

I’m in Neroli Outrenoir for this back to work Tuesday. It’ll be a 3 day week for me though, so it should go fast.
Holy humidity! It felt soupy when I steeped out of the house this morning.
    Stay cool, everyone!🌞

The CP seems like too much work for me to think about after a long weekend. I know this morning I don’t want to be separated by any degree from my coffee machine or french press
☕️ so that is my SipOTD

Will report back with my SOTD after I am fully functioning on caffeine

Just clarifying…the project was not meant to imply you had to wear every step…you can start with step 6! Only meant to list them.

But if even that is too much work, I get it 🙂

Going through my minis for no reason and today I’m in Fendi Theorema. I could kick myself for not having bought a full bottle: I can still see the box on the shelf at the perfumery near where I lived all those years ago, and it was *right there* and I didn’t even know how great it was until far too late. I regret the things I *didn’t* buy so much more than any misguided purchase I ever did make.

But at least I’m in Theorema!

Had the opportunity this weekend to smell some of the repackaged Guerlain classics in the Légendaires bottles and finally found a version of Mitsouko and L’Heure Bleue that I could actually enjoy. They are the edp formulas. I also got to try Jicky extrait, Oeillet Pourpre and Épices Éxquises. I believe Oeillet Pourpre is supposed to be the repackaged & reformulated version of Lui. I much prefer Lui, Oeillet Pourpre smells like the watered-down summer version of it with a lot less spice. So today I am wearing my new Mitsouko edp.

I don’t know if I’m up for six degrees of separation. My brain capacity is quite limited these days. I’m lucky if I can remember people who are only a single degree of separation, for less six.

I’m about to spritz some Fils de Dieu for a pick me up after a not so bad shift. I had a patient pass away right at 730 am as I was giving report (Mo paperwork for me!👍🏼). Not unexpected and probably a great relief to the patient, so I’m not sad about it, although I hate to see people die in hospitals in general.

I’m off for the next four and may venture out a bit. Have been sticking in town for a variety of reasons, but feeling the need to head out and explore a bit.

There is currently a crow tip-tapping on the van roof and driving T-Rex crazy! I think she has wing envy because she hates birds with a passion…

My father passed away around 7:15 a.m., in a hospital. Knowing my father, he would have done his best to hang in there to save anyone time.

Sorry your paperwork and shift got all screwed up. A shame the hospital doesn’t hire others to fulfill your nursing obligatory paperwork. I’m guessing it must be a lot. Time is much better spent with the patient. I was so fortunate the social worker was such an angel to stay with me after my father passed.

My shift didn’t get screwed up and I didn’t have paperwork, so there was no issue. Who would the hospital hire? Nurses deal with death every day. It’s one of the many less pleasant aspects of the job, made more difficult by family who refuse to understand and accept death naturally follows life. People are entitled to good, peaceful, and dignified deaths, but this rarely happens in a hospital setting because family is often the driver for continued painful interventions, tests, and procedures that will make NO difference in patient outcome. I’m sorry you didn’t have family to be with you when your father passed.

I misunderstood your shift being screwed up because of paperwork. I don’t have the answers who should be hired, just know nurses who get bogged down in paperwork.

My father had complete control over his decisions. I made certain.

I cherish that moment with my father.

    Hello all!

I’m in newish Calandre today. Probably a decade or so old but still a lovely green floral with a soapy warm drydown. I’d pick this one over that Cristalle flanker, though not over Cristalle EdT.

Had a very low-key weekend with friends, and ended up making a strawberry rhubarb pie. Pretty good considering I didn’t use a recipe, which is my toxic trait.

    Have a great day all!

I’ve always considered myself more of a Guerlain gal, but I recently noticed I’m drawn to a number of Chanel scents, except No. 5, which doesn’t work on me. So, I’ll take the easy route of one degree of separation being same house and wear Gabrielle Essence.

Humid here, but it’s only low 70s, so is fine. Serious storms blasted through yesterday, thankfully pretty much after most town festivities were done. No lightning or wind or anything, just very heavy rain.

I cannot remember who posted recently about lining up seven different bottles for the week (I’m sorry! my brain is a sieve!), but I realized later that I have precisely seven bottles on my “current rotation” dresser tray, so am working through those. (Oh, and two of the seven are Chanels, so in the most literal sense, everything I wear this week will earn CP points). Yesterday was Calyx; today, Stella.

    6. Blue glass is beautiful and I am wearing Tauer Soto La Luna Tuberose today

Testing Pacific Moss again and I really like it. I’m into summer fragrances, aquatics in particular, right now. This is nice. I tested some others last week, Kerosene Walk the Sea and Blocki Walks and found Walk the Sea interesting after a long time. Same as another Kerosene.

I will be wearing Cristalle later, by Jacques Polgue. Is that one degree of separation?

Need to organize, but do not even know where to start!

    Happy Tuesday!

I go in big waves with perfumes (pun intended) and I really can’t find one right now. Not that I need another bottle.

Giving Rogue’s Rostracto another go today, but I’m having the same reaction as las time — the wood and resin are dominating the potpourri-ish rose note and I wish it was the other way around. I’m making a note to revisit it in cold weather to see if changes my impression.

Tea today has been a giant mug of clipper ship’s burnt sugar while I hide in my office. I have a short trip with a friend planned for this weekend and I refuse have it get derailed by COVID. So I shall hide in my office on the days I am here. 😀

Listening to Spooky complaining about something. She’s being rather mouthy right now. 😾

Enjoying 4th of July leftovers today. Shrimp taste just as good chilled as they did when they were warm. 😋 It also means that I don’t have to cook today, and that task can be dealt with tomorrow.
