Today is my eight year anniversary and part of me thinks I should wear my wedding perfume which is Beige by Chanel. We are going out this evening and I feel like Beige is not an evening perfume. I may wear Shalimar or something else..
Maybe today during the day will be Beige and then switch to something else this evening.

I’m wearing Box of Eels today for an early morning MD appointment. I smell like I’ve got it together and have a hefty bank account, neither of which is true! 😬
Finally, some cooler weather today with highs only in the mid 60’s, so I’m thrilled about that. Even though the Motel 6 was ridiculously priced, the bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept it, and I’m picky about beds due to old age, arthritis, and degenerative joints. Usually at these high brow establishments, I get woken at least once because of police sirens and activity, but folks must be better behaved here because nary a wail of siren or peep of police radio all night! I slept very well and feel 100% better. Can’t wait for my first cuppa Joe!

Hello perfume friends! Wore only a tiny spray of Monotheme Verde d’Arancia this morning as I was worried about something, but now, relieved! and ready for something big, so going for Jardins de Bagatelles (and my thanks to whoever was wearing it here yesterday!). Caught up on several days’ comments late last night – yes I know I know, screens at 2am is no good but catching up with you all here was a huge help as a distraction, so my thanks to everyone who comments here. Sending peaceful, happy, relieved good wishes to you all.

Monotheme has some good uncomplicated scents, and Jardins de Bagatelle is lovely, is it edt or edp?
It is the edt, I bought it on a whim last summer so it’s the current formulation and it’s lovely – some depth, some fullness, and a lot of floral delight. I will gladly look out for an edp to test at some point, thank you for this information! And very glad to hear you enjoy Monotheme as well. I have an old bottle of their Bergamotto and it’s very cheerful. Are there any others you recommend?
It was released originally as an edt so it’s more faithful to the intention of Jean-Paul Guerlain, both are good.
For Monotheme I like Agrumi di Sicilia too, good to know Bergamotto is worth trying when I next go to M&S.

Big news for me is that our team of 6 was let go 3 weeks ago (as were some other colleagues). Tech startup that, like many out there, is needing to heed the economic headwinds and get cash positive. Surprising but not. I’m pacing myself with this change and actually quite pleased it’s summer(!!) and I can enjoy some things I probably wouldn’t be able to if I was working (visits to the Met, Governors Is. followed by fish & chips at a fav restaurant, long, quiet walks and afternoon book reading in the park, etc, etc). Of course, looking for a job is work and lots of discipline, but I’m feeling hopeful :))

I like teas from theteahaus.com and tealish.com both have a nice assortment of chocolate flavored loose teas. Search using the term “chocolate” to bring up their current options. Both are Canadian based shops, so not too sure about shipping elsewhere…

I tried lots of chocolate teas and did not like any of them. Finally bought a bag of plain cacao husks (NOT nibs, husks) and add a spoonful to teas I already like. That gets you a perfect chocolate-y undertone with zero added sweetness. If that’s not what you’re after, never mind!!
(My morning cup of tea is often 1 scant spoon of assam, 1 scant spoon of a black China tea, 1 spoon of husks, brew about 4 1/2 minutes, plus cream or whole milk. The husks also work really well with a good chai. )

I hope you enjoy your summer break! I got laid off once, years ago; similar story, tech startup running out of $. Once the shock wore off, I realized it was a great thing; I had not liked the job anyway.
TBH, I’m actually relieved to not be doing some of the work (about 50%) I was doing. It was a new product and therefore new work and it was just starting to register for me that some of this work was not that satisfying which was discouraging.

So…I wrote a one-star review on Amazon for the product PdN L’Eau d’Été that Amazon seemed to have trouble locating and shipping. I specifically wrote I was just letting the seller know that Amazon wasn’t handling their products very well. Lo and behold, a day or two later I get a notice it’s been shipped. I deleted my review.
Now I still have to decide if I should order Riviera Verbena….

Received my shipment of smellies from Smell Bent yesterday — I confess I got bitten by that “what if I can never get my hands on this again?” bug, and purchased some back up bottles of Incensed (and a couple of other things) before the shop closed down. Today I’m going to wear Sunshine: Mama’s Spice Tea.
I think a few of us got bitten by that same fear. It occurred to me that those of us in that Smell Bent camp could have a mini swap/splitmeet to share larger amounts than we’ll ever need/want 🙂

Yesterday I watched the robins feast on the saskatoon bush in the backyard. They were very entertaining! We have rain today and even had a thunderstorm earlier this morning (which rarely happens here).
That does sound entertaining!
They were swaying back and forth on the branches while eating away. The gardeners had pruned back some of the branches in the spring so the bush isn’t as sturdy as it was before. Plus there were a few birds waiting on the fence for “their” own turn for a few berries. Quite a delight to watch them!

Yes! I got it soon after we moved here. It’s not too big but it provides a bit of a screen from the main road behind us. The birds get most of the fruit every year.

Will add on Tam Dao since that seems to do well and sit super close after a few hours, and is pretty low key with heat and doesn’t bloom like a white floral lol.

mmmmm, White Linen is so nice, especially in summer. I used to buy too much makeup and skincare from EL (and Clinique). They gave me at least a dozen mini bottles of White Linen, among many others. I wish I had them today!
Art Collection by Jacomo #02 for no particular reason.–still love this weird arty perfume. And also wearing a swipe of the mystery perfume from Scented (Indigo Perfumery) on the other arm. It smells familiar but I haven’t pinned it down yet.

Chose Angel Muse edt this morning and tonight I am comparing I Profumi di Firenze Incenso d’oriente and 100Bon Myrrhe et Encens. They are both good, Incenso is more churchy and dense, 100Bon is a nice option for summer.

If you like encens, these two are worth trying and the 100Bon actually lasts quite well for an all natural scent.

There is a big blast of peach and bitter green initially, but it fades pretty fast. I wouldn’t call it a fruity perfume.

I did a bit of perfume sleuthing earlier today and discovered that my bottle of Armani Code for Women is 11 years old. That reduces the chance of a reformulation, but does not eliminate it.

By the time I decided I wanted a bottle of Armani Code for Women, it was difficult to find. Fortunately, I found a bottle at a brick & mortar perfume outlet in Atlantic City (of all places).
I only ever saw one Code flanker, and that was a limited summer edition. It was lighter than its perfume parent, so it didn’t appeal to me.
I’ve been scent free for a few days because, well, you know, the state of the world has been getting to me.
I did sniff a few samples yesterday, and to my surprise found that Phlur’s Missing Person (internet perfume fad of the moment) really is nice. A travel spray is on its way to me. I believe Donatella doesn’t notice travel sprays, but she might notice internet fads so I suppose I’ll have to confess to it. Though it might get lost in the noise, this has been an avaricious quarter for me.
I tried a few of the new Phlur line. Honestly there wasn’t a stinker in the bunch. I was pleasantly surprised.
Missing Person? I like that name. 😀 Must go check it out.

So the Starbucks saga continued. The district manager called me yesterday. We’re back to the store participating fully in the Rewards program, meaning that not only do I earn stars (no issues) AND I can redeem them there. She said she will call the manager and give him my phone number. She also confirmed there had been no reports of a “software issue”, which the employees there AND the manager claimed was the reason I couldn’t redeem my rewards. The store manager called today while I was in a meeting and he left a voicemail. Can I stop by today? No, but I’m not obligated to tell him that. I’ll go back when I feel like it. Would it be unreasonable for me to expect that he should train his staff to handle redeeming the stars without him being there? Sure – I will find out!
What a ridiculous state of affairs! I hope they can get their act together.
Coffee and points redemption shouldn’t be so complicated! I hope you get the correct rewards (when YOU are ready for them).
