My cats were very happy hanging out in the sunny bay window this afternoon. They are NOT fans of the air conditioning! 😾😾
Surprisingly cold for almost-June, only 10°C, and it’s not going to get much warmer, so I can get away with wearing some vintage Ungaro Diva, one of those big imperious eighties floral chypres (see also Paloma Picasso Mon Parfum, Estée Lauder Knowing, and Parfum d’Hermès) that I can never get enough of. This one has so much oakmoss and so much honey. It’s intoxicating.

Slow waking up this morning, waiting for the caffeine to kick in and wearing Knize Ten. General Curiosity Question for those of you who read/write in French: do you prefer the French QWERTY keyboard or the AZERTY one? I’m using Duolingo for French lessons and had my iPad set to use the (very frustrating, to me) AZERTY keyboard, not realizing that the more familiar QWERTY one was available in a French configuration.
I switched to AZERTY a few years ago and am now used to it, but it does take some practice, especially since I was a QWERTY touch typist for 30+ years.
I lived in France for four years and typed in French pretty much every day during that time, but I never got into AZERTY 🙂 too much QWERTY finger memory! Even now, when I set my iPhone/iPad keyboards to French, I stick to QWERTY.
Procrastination on my part taking a shower and getting ready for the day. My mother’s caretaker’s daughter has covid and they spent the long weekend together, so the caretaker is taking time off but that means I’m covering all the time spent with mom, which is a lot.
After the shower, I’m giving Aqua Divina a proper try, a freebie from a generous nster. I do love the bottle!

Doing sporty/outdoorsy with Jo Loves Green Orange & Coriander, which is like a citrusy, herbaceous Terre d’Hermes. I need to do a side by side comparison with TdH before I use up my decant of the JL. I’ve only got small amounts left of both and need to figure out which is the most full bottle worthy.
I’ll be commando tomorrow because I’m going in to work at the office for the first time since March 2020, and my office is supposed to be scent free. I figure I should follow the rules on at least my first day back. I’ll be going in about once a week, if not once every two weeks. A big change for me is that I used to drive in, but now that I don’t have a car, I’ll be taking public transit via our light rail train. Oh, and I will be sitting at a different desk on a different floor! So lots of changes. My whole department, a team of 6, is going in and we’ll have lunch together and get some time to do a fun activity and just hang out with one another. This will be my first time meeting one teammate in person, as he joined our team this past fall.
I also have two more purchases to report to Donatella from this weekend. This quarter started out promising but has turned out to be more expensive than I thought it would be. I don’t regret any of the new perfumes though!

Ha, AND the savings of not having a monthly car payment! Before mine was totaled in Jan 2021, I had the car paid off since 2012 IIRC. So I’m definitely not looking forward to a car payment and will continue to be without a car until I feel it’s necessary to have one. It just didn’t make sense during the last year and a half to get one since I wasn’t going many places due to Covid. And now car prices have gone up! So I’ll just keep the status quo for as long as I can. 😀

It’s nice to leave the house again and socialise at work! And you can always take a sample or decant with you to work and spray later in the day (I often do that!).

I tried spinning once and never again. Also, unless it’s outdoors, even if I liked spinning, I would not do it due to heightened COVID risk of the intense activity.
It’s been a few years since I was spinning. But yeah, now a days I wouldn’t do it. There’s a lot of large, deep exhalations going on in a spin rooms, which generally have very poor air circulation…😷

I love my Salome sample and it’s funny, it doesn’t smell “ animalic” to me… just fluffy and cozy and lovely.
I also love Eau de Pine Sap! It’s just a bit sticky on the paws 😊
Sticky paws indeed and she doesn’t like it. Very studiously cleaning her paws by grabbing that ball of sap between her front teeth and tugging furiously until it’s loose, along with a lot of the in-between-the-pad hairs, then spits it out on the floor. She has no manners at all!
Eau de Pine Sap is a lot nicer to a human nose than some of T-Rex’s past perfume picks (as I recall).

I’m still commando after waking up early for a book discussion on Zoom, only to find out it had been moved to Thursday this week.
Last week I had another bad fall and broke my left wrist, so I’m not typing a lot lately, but reading everything. I also got a cut in my head and very bruised and banged up. Spent the night at the ER with a big battery of x-rays and scans and luckily didn’t break anything else, but it’s a setback. Plus I look a mess and my right eye was swollen shut for a couple of days.
I’ve had my coffee and Cheerios and am just hanging out with the kitties.
Calypso that sounds awful! Glad it wasn’t worse and hope you feel better; I’ve heard kitty therapy is the best therapy 😉

Today is a stay home day since the temps are probably about 90ish by now, I have no desire to go out in that. Yesterday no chance to comment but had on Florabellio, it was nice and warm weather-y, a good choice for not wanting to wear something too heavy.
I am quite glad May is finally closing out, it has been a long month (more like all year so far) of worrying about mom’s struggle with her depression; today she goes to get a cat scan as part of her doctor’s orders after she may or may not have had a min-stroke almost two weeks ago. She seems fine (for her), now, so we will see what happens.
On a good note I fiiiiiiiiinally finished the GW bio I was reading, 500ish pages took a couple months, but I was game. I think I am going to go for lighter material for my next book, I’ll let y’all know.

Commando but put on some Elf face mist with ylang ylang. Idk why I got it cause I dnt particularly like ylang. Lol. I don’t hate it but dnt love it. Generally, pretty well scented floraly mist. Not bad. Enjoying the dip in temps today high of only 87. Such a nice, sunny day no clouds..and I can enjoy without the blast of desert heat.

It was the cheerful Liz Earle botanical essence No1, a really nice citrus chypre, tonight I used part of a decant I made, of I think, Fragonard Oeillet which is a delightfully old-fashioned carnation. I have a big bottle of it and it’s time to use it.
I like the LE No. 1. Wish that line was easier to find here.

Rabbit rabbit rabbit winter! Yesterday was strangely warm, 21 degrees and sunny which brought out the bees in full force. Across the road a large section that was planted in pine trees has been chopped down and the smell of pine and resin has been wafting over the house…anyone would think it was summer, the smell is so strong. Waiting for sunrise, again and wearing Karen Walker Runaway.
I lived in a new subdivision as a child, and it was in a pine woodland area. The smell of cut pines is a strong memory to me. There were still pines of all sizes around us, even after so many were cut for the houses to be built, BTW.
I have never tried your fragrance, but the runaway girl jewelry cracks me up!
Continuing the chypre theme of yesterday’s 31 Rue Cambon, and wearing Thierry Mugler’s Chyprissime today. It’s another wet day, and I’m contemplating the awkwardness of walking to work with handbag, laptop, umbrella and a cake. We’re marking a milestone of moving to another organisation, there won’t be much change in the short-term, but there will be all sorts of teething issues, I’m quite sure.

I had the strangest dream last night – I sprayed on … are you ready for this? … 12 sprays of vintage Opium. I kept spraying and spraying until I realized that it’s a workday and I could not subject my fellow commuters to this smell, no matter how glorious. I ended up not going into the office because I don’t think I can stand the heat! My Apple Watch shows 97F and no way I could manage it. If I end up not going in again tomorrow, it means I will need to be in on Thursday and Friday.
In other news, my IG ads now seem to be for Ruggables and other carpet companies. I swear I have not looked for rugs at all not have I thought about replacing any so I don’t know why it switched to showing me all these ads! Maybe the universe is telling me something! 🤔

I spent Memorial Day completely unplugged. It felt great! I also had a Game Day with real, in-person friends yesterday! I hadn’t seen at least one of them since 2019. And to top it all off, the group of us went to a Brazilian steakhouse over in K of P for dinner last night, so we had nearly ALL the meats. 🥓🍖🍗🥩🥂
Robin, we made ribs on the smoker Sunday, so there was plenty of protein for Memorial Day weekend. The steaks will be happening later.
SOTD = Alaia EdP, in the black bottle. This is strictly a “hot summer weather” perfume for me. The hotter and more humid the weather gets, the better this one smells to me.
