At least half our stuff is still in boxes after the move so I randomly dug out Lacoste Pour Homme, which 1) starts off as a generic men’s cologne and 2) has green apple (ugh) in the top, so that’s two strikes, but it rapidly turns into something beguiling, an almost otherworldly combination of fresh aromatics plus warm balsams and spices, with a hint of licorice candy. (I understand more recent iterations are synthetic and cheap, no surprise, but the original is *really* original.)
The two strikes might be enough for me, but glad it turns out ok. Good luck unpacking!!
Commando for the bus ride back from our island holiday (sob!) to Galway. I’ll have to pick something later, as we will be taking two friends out for a glass of wine to celebrate their birthdays (one today, one last week).
Thank you so very much for all the anniversary wishes yesterday! Mr. Skal and I agree that it was the best anniversary yet. We walked something like 30 miles in three days and had lots of quiet time to read and to feast on local food and (less-local) drink.

Commando at the moment, as I am going scent-free for the next couple of days. What on earth could compel me to live without daily perfume? A passel of 5 orphaned kittens that I started fostering yesterday! They are just a few weeks old, and still hissing at me, but I figure in a day or two they’ll figure out I am the source of all things munchable, and forget to be defensive. So, my bedroom smells of poo, there’s litter being tracked everywhere, and I didn’t get such good sleep last night, but — kittens, y’all.

Thank you for fostering the kitties! I have done that myself and used to socialize cats for the SPCA and do adoptions. I took in a feral in October and it took just a bit to socialize her, giving her all kinds of delectables certainly helped lol. She only “spat” or hissed a few times but she was just still adjusting. She hasn’t hissed at me in months. She is cuddly, purrs, responds to her name and greets me when I come home. Pretty adorable. Socializing kitties takes a little patience but often times does not take too much time and it’s worth it! Thanks again!

Sotd is Nuit de Bakélite and I’m wondering if something in it mellowed (or maybe my sense of smell mellowed?) because it doesn’t have the ooomphf it had before. That’s not necessarily a bad thing since even on my fragrance-eating skin it was a powerhouse.
In other news, I’m really enjoying the swapmeet and all the good smells while decanting/prepping packages. It’s such a fun way to connect with other NST folks and explore fragrance. Thank you to all of those generous swapping NSTers out there!

So far, so good. Got a booster shot yesterday around 1 pm, and have had no reaction. Prior shots all made me feel awful. Doctor extended my antibiotic treatment, just to really try to knock out the eye issues I’ve had.
Getting car serviced, then will drop in at Ulta and the little Sephora at Kohl’s. Will also do visit to Costco to price new lenses in some old frames.
I’m glad to hear that you didn’t have a reaction to the booster shot.
I’m planning to schedule mine but I had such intense reactions to the other shots, I have been waiting for an open weekend. Good news that it might not be as bad this time 🙂
Great for no reaction to the booster. I found out that Costco is doing boosters of J&J so that’s what I am going for, just don’t know when.
Your comment about a little Sephora at Kohl’s reminded me that I saw N Ulta sign inside Target but I was in too much of a hurry to stop by. I will do it soon!

I am taking a mental health day from work today. I have been relaxing the whole morning at home and this afternoon I will get a hair cut and then stop by at my sister’s place to spend some time with my toddler nieces. It should be fun!

Putting on my ES&H hat for a minute to let you know that, with very few exceptions, all workplace deaths must be reported to OSHA within 8 hours, and the agency almost always sends out an inspector that day or the next, so there is probably an investigation happening today (if it didn’t already happen).
It definitely happened already then since the death was the same day.
I am glad you have a mental health day and SO sorry to hear about the worker who died. Just terrible and a reminder for me of how life can change in a split second.

Reports were not filed in advance this time, since they just recently started working. On previous work performed in the building by the same company
I made several reports regarding safety. Work was halted and violations were supposed to be cleared. But work always resumed under the same unsafe conditions. Inspectors never went back to make sure that the construction company had complied with the imposed regulations.

Enjoying very hot coffee on a very chilly morning riverside. Also, toasted up some Sour Dough bread, which is a thicker cut than I’m used to. The outside gets deliciously crisp and crunchy while the thick center is warm and chewy. Toast, how do I live thee?

Trying Caron Tabac Exquis today which is delightful and very smooth to my nose. Notes from Fragrantica….Top note is Cinnamon; middle notes are Dark Chocolate, Tobacco, Myrrh, iris, Labdanum and Jasmine; base notes are Cacao Pod, Ambroxan, Tonka Bean, Benzoin and Olibanum.

Was thinking about lillyjo’s comment yesterday that her perfume obsession keeps her from worrying about other things and I find this to be spot on for me too. Chilly and gray so far today. I finished oiling my teak adirondack chairs yesterday, so the back is grumbly today. Perhaps I’ll just be lazy today, hmm? SOTD is Cuir de Lancome — the color of the juice kinda matches the color of today’s artwork.

SOTD is apparently going to be Chris Collins Sweet Taboo because a faulty sample cap caused me to spill it all over my shirt.! Oops. 🙂 I’m sure that I’m losing the more delicate notes, but what I am getting reminds me of a drink we made at the coffee shop where I worked during a college summer. The town’s old name/nickname was Cow Harbor, so we had a drink called a Moo-chaccino (or something like that). It was a latte with vanilla and chocolate sauce, and was very sweet. This smells like that, with cinnamon sprinkled on top.
Meanwhile, I actually had a good idea for a pairing with today’s painting — Hermes Jardin Lagune. There is the orange on the bottle, and then the sea water note for the blue.
Chocolate puer tea again today, with some Snowflake tea added to mix it up.

Taking CP points today by pairing Allure EDP with the youth paintings because I fell for it and wore it in my later high school years. I’m not sure if I had the EDP oe EDT, but it was definitely due to the department store displays promoting the EDP in 1999-2000 that I took notice of it. Before I got a bottle as a Christmas or birthday present, I’d spray some on every time I went to the mall, which was often. I was a very mature smelling 17 year old!

Heh I definitely also had some B&BW sprays at this time too. My other favorite designer perfume at the time was Pleasures, and Happy was in my rotation.
I’m in Eau des Merveilles because I needed something bright today. Yep, another dreary one out there. My car wash lasted all of one day.😏 This is one of a few perfumes I think of as “bright,” Chanel 1932 would be another one. What other perfumes do you think of as bright?
I had a craving for a brownie so I ran to panera on my lunch break and they were out! I guess that’s a sign that I didn’t need one, but I ignored that sign and got a chocolate chip cookie instead. Ha.😅
I have to think about what a bright perfume would be for me, something with citrus and sparkle. L’Artisan Seville l’Aube, Coco Mademoiselle Intense, not sure what else. You smell great today!

Calyx today, for my youth — the only perfume I still have that launched while I was in high school that I still wear regularly. I loved the Prescriptives line when I was in my last year of high school / early university and so wanted a bottle of Calyx then, but never got around to buying one until I was much older.
I just bought Calyx a few weeks ago for the same reason. That and there seems nothing like it.

Spent the day in Brocard 5 O’Clock My Cup of Tea still perceptible, and tonight it’s Hanae Mori ‘🦋’ parfum.
The Hanae Mori perfume smelled like cheesecake to me the first time I came across it. Don’t remember if my sample was the EdT or EdP. Definitely not the parfum.
It made me hungry for dessert.

I had the Hanae Mori Hanae and loved it.
That’s one I haven’t tried, the Good thing is ‘Butterfly’ and Hanae are still in production, so they must be popular.
I’m wearing Goldfield & Banks Sunset Hour, purchased with Cazaubon at Fumerie last Friday. It’s a cheerful scent and is doing well in the heat.

In our tough times, some avoid buying perfumes. I used to do that. Now, I have about five carts worth of perfume, easily equaling over $1,000. After weeding through.

In some cities and towns, the local police department is taking partially used prescriptions of controlled substances to keep them from being flushed. You might want to see if that is the case in your area.

In my town, the PD accepts used inhalers for asthma in addition to pills.

My niece received the sample box I sent to her. She is so excited and thrilled with everything. I did make a spreadsheet for her so she can explore and decide what she likes. And now she wants to plan a girl’s trip to France!

Not really with the CP. I’m wearing HdP Tubereuse 2 Virginale. It was a long ago gwp and I unexpectedly loved it. It’s sweet and strong but the white florals are tamed by something a bit spicy in there. Very light and pretty for a warm spring day. A friend is bringing over Vietnamese takeout soon and I’m already tasting those yummy salt and pepper shrimp!

It was one of those day’s where I looked at all my perfumes and nothing looked good. Lol. I picked Poison Tendre and way oversprayed! To the point of feeling self conscious at the gas station. After about 3 hours I was smelling pretty good.
But you smelled much better than the gas station! No doubt about that.
