I started out in Ambre 114 from my Histoires de Parfums discovery set. Not for me at all, maybe not even in the winter. Too much vanilla, benzoin, etc. Overlaid it with Maurer & Wirtz Tabac Original, which was in a drawer in my office.
I enjoyed Ambre 114 but enjoyed Moulin Rouge more out of the HDPs

It’s raining again, or still. The May flowers should be gorgeous this year after all the rain. If I can find my bottle of Boucheron it will be my sotd, it’s such a kitchen sink perfume that there’s bound to be narcissus in it.

I have honestly been pretty pleased with most of the contemporary Lutens formulations, save my darling Borneo 1834. I love Mandarine Mandarin and find it quite underrated.

Oh yes, they are awesome. But they can beat a dead horse! Some struggled to accept the restoration of order because of the many plot holes, which is, in my opinion, a legitimate struggle. Some of the proposed themes would have made anyone shake their heads, though.

In 6 days, my parents are leaving for California and I am starting to pick out which candles that I will be burning. My goal is 8 or more since I will be burning multiple candles at once. Currently in no 5 right now but after my shower, I will probably be in Lyric or Deneuve. Haven’t made up my mind yet.

I am here for a short update.
I am sick again. ?? I was so well last week until Sunday, and then it all started again – fever, stuffy nose, cough. The cough was particularly severe – the worst one in my life (I had difficulty breathing). I got better on Tuesday, and I am now steadily recovering again, but I ask myself when it will end for both us. It has been a month. Mother cannot recover completely either. I called a nurse on Tuesday, but I was told that since I am better, I do not need a doctor appointment and it is possible I caught something new.
Other than that things are more or less ok. Before I got worse, I had a Swedish lesson and visited a local art gallery. It was nice. Now I am stuck indoors, working and trying to learn Swedish on my own.

I am glad to read your update but of course hoping you and your dear Mother will build yourselves back up and be well! Learning a new language is very hard for me, but since you are obviously excellent at two (or at least two) already, Swedish may go well. Do you find that English is widely understood in Sweden?
Thank you! Almost everyone here speaks English. But all labels, signs, websites are in Swedish. And, being a language professional, I do not want to miss opportunity of learning at least a bit of the language while I am in this country.
I find a lot of similarities betwen Swedish, English and German, which helps. Swedish phonetics is quite challenging though. I do not speak German, but I studied it a long time ago for a short time, so I still remember a little.
I’ve thought of you and wondered how you are doing. But I’m sorry to hear that both you and your mom have continued not to be feeling very well. I hope things improve. It’s surely a lot to do with all of the stress you both went through (and are probably still feeling). Impressive you’re trying to learn Swedish now–wow–hope that goes well! Give that cute kitty a kiss from me.

I’m happy to hear it went well. I’ve watched Undercover Boss occasionally and you would be surprised at the outcome of the most seemingly inconsequential things.
I started the day in TDC Bergamote on one arm and Chanel Biarritz on the other. Bergamote might be leaving just a trace, but it’s just barely detectable. Biarritz is a little more present at nose-to-arm distance, but that’s it. I didn’t intend a comparison test this morning; it was more like I didn’t need to make another decision at the time.
I’m tempted by Biarritz. I want something new, I haven’t bought a new fragrance in ages, the small bottle isn’t that spendy (in perfume math), and it’s available locally… Dangerous thoughts, indeed. ?
I went through a bottle of the TDC — nice but did not replace it.
SOTD is Voyages Imaginaires La Couleur de la Nuit Voyages. A light, beautifully blended lavender-vanilla, with some brisk evergreen freshness. Perfect office scent, which I need to think more about now that I’m going in a couple days a week. In part for my colleague’s benefit, and in part because the chichi mall is only a five minute detour on my commute home and I want to be able to stop and test at least once a week without interference from whatever I put on that morning. 🙂
Drinking a black tea with bits of cinnamon stick today. Smells more cinnamon-y than it tastes.

SotD La Petite Robe Noir So Frenchy edt. A very nice sweet green rose that is almost perfume math free if you like the LPRN profile and also its white and red bottle as much as I do. It to me is a cool weather scent Though we may end up with a brighter cloudy day in the 60’s, this morning was 55 and rainy, so it fits my day. I might add that people who love Champs Elysees give this a sniff. If you can sense what a “child” of those two might smell like…okay, maybe that is too fantastic so I’ll stop now.

I can’t believe that it’s been 6 years since Prince passed away. What a shock that was.
Had to take Spooky kitty to the vet this afternoon for a followup appointment. She seems to be tolerating her new medicine rather well, but the bloodwork will tell more of the story. She will have to go in once a week for the next 3 weeks for a B-12 shot. I was asked if giving her shots at home was a possibility, and I said that it was rough for both cat and human.
SOTD = day 5 of Hypnotic Poison Eau Sensuelle. I was pricing bottles of this on EvilBay the other night, and OUCH! Steep, steep, steep!

The fur is starting to grow back on Spooky’s ears, so that’s a visible sign of progress. A month ago, those ears were bare.
Regular Hypnotic Poison isn’t going for $300 (yet). People are catching on about LE flankers of perfumes and some of those prices feel like gouging to me.

CP points for me this week as I’ve been wearing either Ostara or various versions of 4160 Tuesdays’ “Clouds” series. Yesterday was Both Sides of Clouds, which I reviewed here: https://scentsandsensibilities.co/2021/05/17/may-melange-marathon-both-sides-of-clouds/. All of the “Clouds” fragrances have narcissus. Today might be another Ostara day, or I could dig out Vol de Nuit. I have an older version; has anyone tried the 2021 release?
