The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 14 April 2022 14 Comments

And I just made a Lush run, too...looks like I'll have to go back. Sticky Dates shower gel: "Enjoy sweet hydration! This Eid-inspired shower gel is ideal for after fasting when the skin needs a little extra TLC. Lather on moisture-retaining organic date syrup, soothing sandalwood oil and cleansing orange juice for a hydrating shower that will leave your skin feeling revived, renewed, and refreshed." (If the UK reviews are to be believed, it smells like sticky toffee pudding.) $11.50 - $38 at Lush USA.

I see Lush is still not selling samples, which I will never understand. I live forever away from a Lush store. But maybe I should be thankful–I would probably love most everything on their site.

Shower gel samples, you mean? The smallest size is a travel size, basically. If you mean fragrances, yes, that’s right, they don’t sell samples.

I don’t get the sample policy, either. Living near a Lush actually doesn’t help for perfume samples. Most of their perfumes that I’d want to try aren’t sold in stores, so you can’t try them there, and I’ve never seen them on the sample sites. I’m not keen to spend $180 on a blind buy (especially from Lush, where I find their in-store perfumes and shower gel fragrances hit-or-miss for my nose).

I’ll never buy perfume from Lush online again. I ordered one I thought I’d love, Cardamom Rose. I did not. Tried to return. My local shop wouldn’t accept it because they didn’t normally carry that scent. Okay. So it had to go back to Lush in Canada. BUT, the US post office wouldn’t accept because it was considered a dangerous liquid. FedEx and UPS said the same thing. I could send it in a special package with warning stickers for, wait for it…$83!!!
I called Lush to lodge a major complaint and they sent me a pre-paid label as a “one time courtesy”. Gads! Never again.

Yeah, I’ve been circling Kerbside Violet for a long time. But I’m not willing to deal with the hassle if it turns out I don’t like it, at that price. There’s so much perfume in the world…I’ll move on to something I can smell before buying.

I bought the small bottle of this. It does indeed smell like sticky toffee pudding, and there is a very good chance I’ll end up buying a bigger bottle in the next few weeks.

There’s also a limited edition bath bomb in this scent.

I found out a couple weeks ago when I went to Lush’s website that they closed my closest store with no notification. It was just a 20 minute walk away! ?

At least I got emails when my nearby DSW store was closing…
