The aroma of freshly baked cheesecake

Posted by Robin on 14 April 2022 5 Comments

Select Jewel-Osco and Acme grocery stores in Chicago and New Jersey are rolling out the devices, which will pump the aroma of freshly baked cheesecake into the dairy aisle in an attempt to entice consumers to buy. Used to live in the Chicago area and we shopped at Jewel all the time. Not sure how they’re going to reconcile the smell of baking cheesecake being piped in and the nationwide cream cheese shortage…?

Did not know! We have plenty locally from what I can tell (my boys eat a lot of bagels).

If I smell vanilla and sugar in the grocery store, I think it will just send me over to the bakery section to buy something already baked, not entice me to buy cream cheese so that I can go home and make a vanilla-and-sugar-scented treat myself.
