I'm in Parfum d’Empire Azemour Les Orangers. So far the weather is not meeting my challenge.
Reminder: 4/15 is Tax Day in the US. Pick your poison: wear the fragrance (presumably from a sample) you'd buy if you had an unexpected windfall, or wear a cheap thrill.

This morning I was wearing Bapteme du Feu by Serge Lutens. Sweet, spicy woods. Fit todays cool sunshine perfectly.
Now, at nearly midnight, Sovereign by Le Galion. Rose, oud, amber done so beautifully.

I’m in La Chasse aux Papillons, from one of the first discovery sets I ever bought. Very spring floral, but too sweet for my liking. I like my florals with an edge of green.
I think it was the first white floral I ever liked 🙂

It’s sunny out today and breezy, makes Monday a bit more tolerable.
Currently drinking Earl Grey, strong.
4711 and Earl Grey tea sound like a wonderful pairing.
I’m in the dregs of a sample of Parfumerie Generale Querelle, not nearly as dangerous as it thinks it is. Spicy vetiver on an amber base. Not bad.
Perfumes that are as dangerous as they think they are …those are rare birds indeed 🙂

Thank you for all the birthday wishes yesterday!! Today I’m wearing a birthday gift to myself, Hermès Santal Massoia. Trying to psyche myself up to do some yoga and work in the yard, but it’s only 2C right now, although it’s sunny (yesterday we got snow flurries, which is traditional for my birthday).

LOL! My MIL, who live in Florida for over 40 years, did convince me that a windy, damp day at 50 degrees was cold. But I have live in the Midwest for over 30 years; I think a damp and windy 40 degrees is cold, but take a cold and dry -10 as a “bundle up” day!

I’m wearing Angel Eau Croisiere and smelling delightfully figgy, to myself, anyway. Headed out to my mom’s house since her caretaker called in sick today and mom won’t notice my perfume, her sense of smell has diminished with age. Another door closed. Old age is tough.
My mom has Parkinson’s and can’t really smell any more either. She loved perfume and transmitted that love to me. Old age is very hard.
My mom had Parkinson’s too. Her sense of smell left her too, and taste, but to a lesser extent. Gentle hugs to you, cazaubon.
Mom still wears perfume every day (I shared my hobby with her over the years and we’ve both enjoyed it.) She says she can’t smell it but she knows others can.
It’s very tough <3 sending you positive vibes.

As I clicked over to visit NST, I decided to reach over to side table by the couch to pull out my travel spray of Sunset House, which I hadn’t yet put in the bedroom with the rest of my bottles. Quite possibly the laziest way to choose a SOTD.

The Good weather is back, 14C and blue sky, White clouds so I pulled out Quartz this morning thinking of Jalapeno who bought it recently.
This evening it’s Lancaster eau de toilette concentrée which smells really good too.
I haven’t smelled Quartz in ages; I wore it a lot back in the day!
I find it very easy to wear at this time of year, I think you would recognize it, my little 30ml is older, maybe ten years but not vintage.
I’m sure I would recognize it, even reformulated. It’s pretty distinctive. And I agree with you, that this is the best time of year to wear it.
It’s up to 16 or 17 degrees C here today. A few more days like this and I can think about opening up my bottle of Quartz, maybe?

My splurge would be Hermes Hermessance Cardamusc. It is too expensive to purchase, since I do not know if I would wear it often enough to justify the price tag. But – if it were a gift from the sky – perfection.
Oh gosh, perfect choice. If I had a tenth as much perfume as I currently do, and therefore could justify continued purchases, that would definitely be at the top of my to-purchase list.

I tried Cardamusc at the local Hermes boutique, and rather wish I hadn’t, because it both lovely and way too expensive. Oh, and a teensy bottle to boot, if I remember.

Today is my birthday and I selected Estee Lauder Private Collection Amber Ylang Ylang (what a mouthful) as my birthday scent this year. It’s been a chilly morning, but the sun is making an appearance now. I’m signing off work at 3 today and plan to take a walk and probably pick up some Sichuan takeout later. I’m craving some rice cakes with greens and bacon. So many restaurants around here are closed on Mondays, so I think I’ll save eating out for another day. Oh, and already got some tulips delivered from my mom. ⚘?

Was bad last night and blind bought Complicated Shadows from 4160 Tuesdays, because I can’t get enough Narcissus and The Sniff did a good review.

Oh, I also meant to report on some purchases I made this weekend cause I’ve been in a shopping mood. I guess these were my birthday presents to myself hehe.
After Robin posted the Otherland candle being on sale at Nordstrom, I bought some candles in that sale, although not Otherland since those were already gone. I got a Harris Reed candle at 40% off, the Patchouli Fever one, and also the Forest three pack from Brooklyn Candle Company. It’ll be my first time trying both brands so hopefully they’re good quality. I also burned my Otherland Ultraviolet candle for the first time, and it was wonderful. Still reminds me of Insolence EDP while burning.
I also got a pair of Moschino sunglasses from Nordstrom Rack, purchased online so hopefully they work on my face. I threw in a bottle of Philosophy Apricots and Cream shower gel with that order so I could get free shipping. ?
I love Moschino anything!

I”m continuing through my Luckyscent Patchouli Packet of samples and have two losers today: Ecsentric Molecule 1 + Patchouli (has that same grating quality as the scent without patch), and Crivelli Patchouli Magnetik, which is downright weird–patchouli plus gardenia? plus sandalwood? It smells like a very weird unpalatable kind of candy (so far, I only just applied it). Nothing in the set to rival the big discovery of yummy luscious deep dark boozy chocolatey Raw Gold (which I wrote about yesterday). We have warm temperatures but it’s a bit overcast. I’m home and realizing how slow I am at getting anything done since I must lumber around with my walker–and the cats believe me are complaining about the very slow food service in the morning. Alas, my near-perfect cat sitter (also a long-term friend and former student) is now afraid she can’t keep up this work for me because her own work hours are increasing, so I’m back to the hunt through what’s available. I liked the last service I’d hired, and they seemed good with the pets, but apparently were just rotten at doing cleanup, according to a few friends who popped in, and so I’m still on the lookout for help.
I have a Facebook friend who lives in Paris and was posting pictures of lilacs today, and did that ever make me envious! They just don’t grow here.
I believe I tried that Escentric Patchouli, and didn’t like it either. It was scratchy or something. Will have to backtrack to yesterday’s post and read about Raw Gold. I did find that I have a bunch of winter perfumes that I never even wore, and probably won’t wear until this fall. Although, we have a couple of days early next week when the nights are in the 50’s…hope springs eternal.
I do hope you and the kitties can find a helper who works out!

Would you ever consider getting one of those automated litterboxes for your kitties? Or are they too skittish?
I’ve tried those, but they do their raking about a minute after one kitty is done. If you have multiple cats it’s likely to startle the next one and then they’re just too scared if it to try again!

Lilacs are few and far between here too. I’ve seen a few on my bike rides, but I haven’t stopped because they are firmly on people’s property, and my husband says people don’t like it when strangers walk onto their property to sniff their flowers. Hm.

SotD Un Bois Vanille. It is my Fra…Net perfume of the month and most delightful. A rainy Spring day, with thunder even, but the emphasis is on “Spring.” Taxes all done: WHEW!

Givenchy Very Irresistible L’Eau en Rose
Went into work today, so wore the office-appropriate No.19.
A lunchtime visit to the dentist for me today. The practice I go to has recently changed/updated the software they use, so I had to fill out a rather comprehensive health questionnaire out a couple of days prior to my appointment. No issues this time, just the typical 2x a year cleaning and checkup.
SOTD = back in Opium Eau d’Orchidee de Chine EdT. This is lighter weight and much more floral than its perfume parent but still recognizably Opium. I like!

I started out the day in Jlo Wild Glow. It’s fun and fruity. Cleaned the house and then did a quick stop at Sephora for the last day of the sale. I tried a couple of new Jo Malone perfumes. The ones in the short round bottles. They didn’t really speak to me. Money saved!

It was my first Le Labo purchase from the long departed Barneys. This was almost 9 years ago when I had discipline. It still smells just as good as the first day I got it!
I haven’t finished my tax returns yet and it looks like I am missing 2 documents. I may need to file an extension because I don’t like to be pressured. ?
