A fistful of samples

In the Before Times, my idea of a perfect day was popping into Sephora, sniffing as many scents as humanly possible, and walking out with a fistful of samples. Such laissez-faire pleasures are, alas, a thing of the past, but my habit of sample hoarding is not. In fact, since the pandemic started, my collection has grown exponentially, because I simply cannot stop buying perfume sample sets.

The daily lemming

Lanvin's latest scratch-and-sniff clothing: a t-shirt ($450) and sweatshirt ($590), both in 100% cotton and featuring a visual of an old Cosmétiques Lanvin advert. "The special print gives off a soft floral scent (violet) when rubbed. It can last up to 15 cold hand washes." At Lanvin.

Happy Friday, and welcome to the Picture Challenge, edition 6. Our community project for today: wear a perfume that matches the picture, which is The Girl by the Window by Edvard Munch, 1893. (More reading here and here; full image shown below, larger copy of the image here.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I selected this picture because it seemed a good fit with the pandemic,* but turns out it also fits our local weather — everything outside is currently covered with a rather impressive layer of ice. I’m in Diptyque Tam Dao, which after all these years is still my favorite fragrance for keeping calm and carrying on…
