Friday scent of the day 8/6

Posted by Robin on 6 August 2021 241 Comments

Happy Friday and happy Happiness Happens Month! Our community project for today: wear a happy fragrance, and tell us about something that’s made you happy recently.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m copying Isabella, who went with Parfum d’Empire Azemour Les Orangers on Wednesday. Things that are making me happy lately: a spate of windows-open summer weather (not today, though); my new-ish folding step thru e-bike; my sister moving a couple hours away, at least for a few years (she usually lives overseas); and a family beach vacation coming up at the end of this month. Why you’re wearing perfume at home with your cat

Posted by Robin on 6 August 2021 6 Comments

If you’re an introvert, though, you may be hard-pressed to explain why you’re wearing perfume at home with your cat.

Psychologist Carl Jung first popularized the terms “introvert” and “extrovert” to describe inner-directed people, as opposed to those of whom Barbra Streisand sang, “People who need people / Are the luckiest people in the world.” And they are. American life—that includes school, business, and even religion—prizes extroverts. Yet introverts too splash on fragrance. I know because I am one. I’ve also spent my entire adult life deep in perfume obsession, first as a collector, then as a blogger, then as an author translated and published around the world.

New from The Body Shop, Avocado Body Lotion-to-Oil: "Slather on our creamy, lightly scented lotion and watch it instantly transform into oil that melts into thirsty skin. Beautifully rich without feeling sticky, it helps sooth and soften tight, dry skin with 72hr moisture and gives it a natural, healthy-looking glow. It also leaves your skin smelling refreshingly green and creamy, with notes of almond, apple, avocado and comforting coconut milk and vanilla." £11 for 200 ml at The Body Shop UK.
