Five Echoes

Posted by Robin on 3 December 2021 7 Comments

[Artist and stage designer Es] Devlin and Chanel will transform the plaza into a multisensory labyrinth entitled “Five Echoes,” starting with a lush forest with more than 20 plant species (a nod to Coco Chanel’s upbringing in Abbey of Aubazine surrounded by woods). A luminescent sculpture that interprets the legendary Chanel N° 5 fragrance through sound and sight emerges at the center of the forest, featuring a soundscape developed in collaboration with Chanel’s in-house perfumer Olivier Polge.

— After Rockefeller Center, Chanel heads to Miami for a gig at Art Basel, to run through December 21. Read more in Chanel Unveils “Five Echoes” Installation With Artist Es Devlin at Grazia, or see Six must-see public art installations of Art Basel 2021 at Timeout.

That‘s really cool – the next generation of fireworks! That must have been beautiful to watch on site.

It is cool. Would love to know what that cost to put on!

“… an gig at Art Basel…” ARGH! That sounds really wrong to me.

Should be “a gig”, thanks! But also, if you are objecting to “gig” it was me being a little tiny bit cheeky perhaps.

The word “gig” doesn’t bug me at all!
