Arquiste Peau ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 20 November 2021 2 Comments

Niche line Arquiste has launched Peau, a new fragrance.

AD 134, Villa Adriana, Tivoli, Italy.

Such was the love emperor Hadrian had for his favorite Antinoös, that he commissioned thousands of sculptures to memorialize him after his demise. Like the contours of a statue, the physical and spiritual presence of the body is likewise defined by a fragrant silhouette. Here is the emperor recalling his lover: the touch and smell of him, the warm redolence of skin, the soft musk at the nape of the neck. Paying tribute to the beloved, like Hadrian did Antinoös, this fragrance captures the memory of skin, conjuring intimacy and closeness, and living in our hearts and minds as an idealized scent.

The nape of the neck, the idealized scent at a lover and a lost embrace. Peau's soft cruelty lies in its evocation of youth and life, by nature impermanent. From top, heart and base notes, it includes in itself the promise of intimacy and the indescribable memory of skin.

Peau was developed by perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux. The notes include ambergris, musk, clary sage, white pepper, coriander seed, sargassum, labdanum, okoume wood and ambermax.

Arquiste Peau is $195 for 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Looking forward to try this one! They don’t release a new one very often, which I like, and aleksandr is still one of my favourite perfumes of the last decade!

I am behind on Arquiste already, but would certainly love to try it if I ever see it!
