Various vapors

Posted by Robin on 9 November 2021 6 Comments

But while scented candles do produce various vapors and particles that can be unsafe to inhale at high doses, research suggests that with typical use, the dose you get is far below what is considered harmful to your health. And according to experts, there is no reason to think that occasional candle-burning will be dangerous.

    Occasional candle burning?

LOL every day is an occasion so I burn a mood setting candle every night!

For real though, airing out the house – which I do every night- should be sufficient. If a person cooks with natural gas, that is more of a worry than burning a scented candle for two hours every night.

I think this was meant to calm people who keep seeing headlines about candles killing you.

But also, NEED my gas stove, happy to give up candles to keep my gas stove 🙂

As part of the NYT’s general program of freaking people out then calming them down, they also did an article on why you can keep your gas stove:

        Ooh!

Thanks for the follow up article! I actually got my induction stove partially because gee whiz tech but also issues with having a (at the time possible) gas stove when redoing the kitchen.

I must be one of the very few people that prefer electric – I hate cleaning gas stove tops, love the ease of my ceramic cooktop.

Of course, include animal occupants into the mix and chemicals in candles can be much more problematic. Bird lovers, beware.
