L’Artisan Parfumeur Obscuratio & 63 Crepusculum Mirabile ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 8 September 2021 16 Comments

L’Artisan Parfumeur has added two new fragrances to the La Botanique collection (formerly known as Natura Fabularis). Like the others in the series, 25 Obscuratio and 63 Crepusculum Mirabile were developed by perfumer Daphné Bugey, and the number represents the number of trials before the final formula.

25 Obscuratio ~ "An irresistible light. When ylang ylang petals turn even more intoxicating in union with the richness of vanilla bourbon from the island of Nosy Be in Madagascar. Those tiny flowers become dangerous amid dark wafts of patchouli."

63 Crepusculum Mirabile ~ "A wild and hot night. This kind of night when you discover the true intensity of white flowers. Amplified by tonka bean and sandalwood, night is the time for jasmine petals to exude their carnal and voluptuous scent."

L’Artisan Parfumeur 25 Obscuratio and 63 Crepusculum Mirabile are available in 75 Eau de Parfum, $245 each.

This range has been around the block a few times ! Released as limited editions with plain labels & metal bees attached to the bottles, then rereleased as limited editions with illustrated labels, now rereleased again (no longer limited editions?) with more new labels & 2 additional fragrances. I see the Glacialis Terra is the only one of the originals that didn’t survive.

I suspect it is the packaging that is limited edition, but honestly I am not paying enough attention.

A slight price jump too for these new-label versions , in UK from £170 to £175

I just love octopus/squid patterns in perfumes and their packaging.

Was thinking of Tokyo Milk and their legendary octopuses:) I even got myself a large cosmetic bag with their octopus pattern and I love their bottle design with the octopus. Love the octopus by L’Artisan too.

If you go to the French site (not the US one) there are some really cool animations, including the octopus 🙂

I don’t get the connection between octopus tentacles and a carnal jasmine for a hot and wild night??? Anyway, I will seek this one out at when the shops reopen, cos I love humid, indolic jasmines like A la Nuit

Maybe because if someone has arms like an octopus they would be all over you?

These botanical series all have gorgeous packaging. I googled Violaceum thinking it is a botanical name afterall perhaps of violets… What violaceum is though is a bacteria… So why they come up with weird “botanical” names when they aren’t even latin botanical names?

In Latin Violaceum refers to something which is violet in colour.

Ooh I want to spray on that carnal jasmine one and go out do some flirting BUT ALAS SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA IS STILL IN LOCK DOWN, while those in the US and the UK are free to cavort and frolick!!!

Well, I guess…I mean, I’m glad I’m not on lockdown but I don’t exactly feel free to cavort and frolick either! I have not been in a department store since covid started, so no way for me to get my hands on a tester of the carnal jasmine anyway 🙂

I want every NSTer to spritz some flirty perfume on and get out there wherever they are and start cavorting and prancing and just be joyous!!!

Sorry for late reply…left town for a few days. There was not really cavorting and prancing but I had a good time, is that good enough?

Crepesculum is a very sinister sounding word. I don’t like it.
