Ormonde Jayne Evernia ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 1 September 2021 12 Comments

British niche line Ormonde Jayne will launch Evernia, a new fragrance in the brand's Signature Collection.

Evernia is Latin for oakmoss and grows on oak trees and conifers across the Northern Hemisphere. It is transported to Grasse, where it is cleaned and extracted into an absolute.

Evernia by Ormonde Jayne is a modern take on a classic and is in keeping with our gender-free philosophy.

The overall impression is of soft interlacing flowers; lily, freesia, orris and violet, fanned with the unmistakable aroma and tenacity of oakmoss. Moroccan rose adds sweetness and from cardamom, an intense wave of spice.

Cashmeran, sandalwood and musk give Evernia its underlying softness and sensuality. Wear Evernia on any occasion when you want to feel at your alluring best.

Additional notes include bergamot, cassis, pink pepper, coriander, jasmine, opoponax and iso e super.

Ormonde Jayne Evernia will be available in 50 and 120 ml Eau de Parfum, or in a coffret of five 8 ml travel sprays.

So true! But since I like iso e super it is not always bad news to me.

I’m glad they list it in the notes as some people just don’t like it or cannot smell it (though it seems we are a minority). The Ormonde Jayne discovery set is what made me aware of its existence- I was anosmic to the whole range.

Anosmia? So *that’s* why I’ve always thought Ormonde Jayne’s scents smell like bland nothing after the opening notes.

Sometimes cashmeran can take over a scent. Sounds like this one has a whole lot going on. I’m not sure the whole thing will be appealing, though I’m willing to give it a go.

Yes, I think so too.. my experience is that I like some cashmeran containing perfumes but if it’s too present I start to think of fabric softener/ cleaning product.

I was lucky to get a travel spray of this one from OJ, very nice and pretty original stuff. It’s very earthy, shrubby, mossy.

Good to know. Based on the Brand’s description, I would have expected it to be rather floral.

This sounds really appealing; I love floral notes and oakmoss.
