I’ve had my windows open so much lately but I dusted this weekend and oh my gosh- my dresser, night stands etc. were covered in pure yellow pollen! No wonder I sneeze so much in the mornings!
I just bought two large cups of two different caffeines from Sonic – Diet Coke and Iced Coffee. I hope it keeps me awake. Anyway, I’m wearing vintage Jolie Madame today.
That was my mom’s signature scent for decades, from the mid seventies until it was entirely reformulated, and it was *glorious*. How good you smell!

I’m wearing old things this week, why not, so I’m in vintage 1986 Panthère de Cartier parfum. Having not worn it for a few years, I had filed it away in my head as “Oh, it’s that gardenia scent,” and it does have gardenia in it, but it’s so much more, *staggeringly* rich and complex, what the French call “un parfum fourrure”, a fur-coat scent, plush and thick and sensuous. Might as well wear it while it’s still cold out.
‘86 was a great year! Big hair, shoulder pads…and the world as my oyster. Sigh.?

The vintage Panthère de Cartier is exquisite, velvety smooth is an apt description. They really knew how to make them back in the day.
They really did. It’s probably nostalgia but the eighties were some kind of high-water mark for perfumery: just off the top of my head I can name a couple of dozen that were just spectacular, complex, glorious creations, actual art in liquid form. We’ve lost so much.
Panthere de Cartier is one of my top ten favorite perfumes. When I heard it had been discontinued I bought 70mls. You smell great!

I’m in Bois des Iles and hoping that the sun will peek out. It’s a bit dreary at the moment.
What a busy work weekend! Today is my Saturday thankfully. I start my last class today. 6 weeks and 3 more papers to go!? I know you all have probably grown weary of my complaints about writing papers, but I looked through my Microsoft Word and I’ve written 20 papers over the last 20 months!? That’s a lot of writing.
My daughter surprised us Thursday night by coming home for a long weekend. We were all so happy to have her home. She shared with us the tragic news of a campus suicide last week. Since she goes to my alma mater, it happened in my old dorm actually. My daughter didn’t know the girl, but I have found myself getting very emotional over it. I just cried as I read the obituary, she was 18. My heart breaks for her family and friends.
Sorry to be such a downer on a Monday morning. Hug the young people in your life.

Anyone who has experienced the loss of someone to suicide no matter what the connection, feels your pain.
Good for you pursuing education and putting the hard work into it. My complaints are more along the lines of my other half telling me I use too much salt. ? I do.

A very loud second to AnniePerfumes’s comments. Suicide is deeply traumatic for everyone left behind. I’ve read one book on the subject (Grieving a Suicide) that directly equates it to PTSD. Hugs to you, your daughter, and all the other students and staff at your alma mater.

I am wearing Caron Aimez Moi today, and I am about to leave to go to dentist for a finished crown. I have had the temporary on for a few weeks, and thank goodness it didn’t pop out.
This past weekend, my Mom, who is about to turn 80 years old fell in her bathroom, and broke/fractured her ankle bone, one of the bones in her foot and her shin bone. We’ll know more when she goes to orthopedist. We were in the emergency room late Saturday night, and into early Easter Sunday morning. For now she has a splint and is in so much pain. Poor thing, she keeps apologizing for being so much “trouble”. It makes me want to cry when she says stuff like that.

Please check with your gp to get a good reference, if you have not done that already. I’ve fallen more times than I can count and been at the ER and always, I am referred to the same doctor. After the first misdiagnosis and treatment, I asked my gp who gave me two excellent doctors.

As noted above, I got my second vaccination yesterday. Had some random and very minor pains here and there afterwards, but what I noticed most was what seemed to be an INcreased sense of smell. Spritzed on some Wood Sage and Sea Salt at bedtime and it seemed extra-extra musky-sweet and soothing. Commando so far, but all symptoms are gone now apart from the sore deltoid region. The nurse who shot me said that the second doses of Moderna have generally been producing more severe after-effects, while the Pfizer is the reverse (more on first dose, less on second). For whatever that’s worth. ?
My BIL who got the J&J shot said for 2 days, he kept smelling cinnamon but no one in their house had opened anything with the spice. I speculated their little Havanese’s fur must smell cinnamony ??♀️.

How odd. I mentioned my friend who said she had olfactory illusions after her 2nd shot, some good, some bad (dirty socks smell). I almost felt that my sense of taste was enhanced. I bought a chicken salad sandwich at the coffee shop of the hospital where I got my shot and when I was eating it, it tasted the best of anything I’ve ever eaten! And similarly what I had for dinner that night was just delicious. It didn’t last longer than that first day, though.

I suspect people’s reactions (or lack thereof) are probably all over the board. It will be interesting to see if the scientists come up with any “real” correlations down the road.

The hunt for a forest&juniper scent continues today with a sample of Cire Trudon II. It is a nice forest scent, but I keep getting a celery note that I find distracting. Lots of people commenting on fragrantica get a fig leaf note and compare it to Philsoykos, but I don’t get that at all. It started with good projection, but it is just barely detectible three hours later, so I’ll probably switch to something else this afternoon.

testing a sample (from LuckyScent) of a floral vanilla, called, Floranilla, by Maison Tahiti, which must be a new house that LuckyScent showed me becasue I asked about Vanilla scents. This has Lots of Vanilla, and Iris and violet, and is drying down with some mild powdery incense (the notes say myrrhe), and it is very pretty. I will test it again in a few days – it’s not Spectacular, but it is very pretty and the price is very reasonable. 🙂 Has anyone tried the new Dame called Monsoon, which is supposed to have iris and petrichor and rainy notes?

Feeling a bit under the weather. I’m on a medication hike and the side effects mimic the flu, and the C word. Thank God I felt like this yesterday and didn’t see my lone family member. I’d guess I’ve lost at least 10 pounds in the last two weeks and my bones are starting to show again.
Can I be a moron and ask about some symptoms of Covid? Such generic ones haven’t really changed much since July on my state portal?

hi AP, I’m sorry you’re feeling poorly. I had a fair amount of nausea and very little appetite off and on for about three weeks after my first covid vaccine. I’ve read that some people have difficulty that way during and after covid infection. I hope you feel better quickly.

Oh no! I agree with Robin re: taking a COVID test. Perhaps you can call a pharmacy to have them deliver a take at home test? It may be free (not sure).
Hope you feel better soon. If you can’t make it out to get a test, I know Costco online has home kits you can order for delivery and then mail back, so no leaving the house. Not cheap, but I was able to get an FSA reimbursement for mine.

Inspired by Robin’s SOTD and the Bois de Jasmin videos I watched this morning on petitgrain, neroli, and orange blossom, I’ve finished off a sample of Nerola by Fūm Fragrances. I think this has a ton of lasting power for a citrus perfume. I already have a 15ml bottle waiting in the wings.
First vaccine shot is this evening! I’m excited and a little nervous about possible side effects, but hopefully it’s just arm soreness. I cleared my work calendar tomorrow just in case.

I find it hard to stay motivated, too. I was able to keep up some semblance of a routine for awhile last year, but eventually settled for a couple of walks a day. It did help to split activities up into shorter sessions. I felt I could get a few exercises done quickly and then move on to something more fun. Every little bit helps!

I’m cp appropriate in Ysatis. I wore it when it first came out, and am still wearing today thanks to a generous Nster ? it’s been a rough day. Work is almost done, but then going home. We have my brother’s dog for 3 more nights. It’s been mostly ok, except for my daughter not really playing well with him. She thinks she is playing but the dog just finds it irritating. So there is lots of barking.

In No 5 parfum today. Thought I’d pick my fragrance with the oldest release date, but then realized that L’Heure Bleue was not classroom friendly, so went with two tiny dabs of No 5, my second oldest. Tomorrow is WFH, so am planning full-tilt LHB.
I am sorry that others are feeling so tired but also reassured that it’s not just me. I finished two Major Thinga for work last week and kind of went non-stop all week, and again over the weekend to try to catch up. I am SO tired!

This is literally my newest perfume so not with the CP today ☺️.
No IG post today (I took a picture but no time to post but may do so in a little bit – almost No. 1,000). I like the perfume and I kept thinking it smelled really familiar and then it hit me while I walked — Amouage Sunshine Woman! I have a FB of Sunshine after hankering over from trying it at Bergdorfs way back when and finally saw it on sale at Fragnet.
In other news, and this could be counting my chickens before they hatch, I had been checking vaccine websites and pharmacy sites for the COVID-19 vaccine and have reconciled myself to taking whatever is offered but all appointments are filled. My sister called me this evening and said me, my younger sister, BIL and nephew may have an appointment this Wednesday for the J&J vaccine! It’s the same place she and my BIL got theirs and her friend (who used to be mine but I am not looking a gift horse in the mouth) was able to secure more appointments for more people because there are more vaccines than people willing to take them! I’ll know for sure tomorrow – wish us luck!!!
