Providence Perfume Co Irisque ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 6 March 2021 9 Comments

Indie natural line Providence Perfume Co has launched Irisqué, a new fragrance.

Can an iris perfume be sexy? The answer is yes!

Our new fragrance, Irisqué, is rich, powdery, rooty, floral and musky. Iris perfumes are built on orris root, the dried rhizome of the iris. True orris butter is one of the most expensive perfume materials in the world, and is rarely used in modern perfumery due to its exorbitant price. We spared no expense in creating Irisqué, using Germanica and Pallida iris along with velvety oud, deep carrot seed and botanical musk to create a lush iris fragrance unlike any other.

Providence Perfume Co Irisqué is $45 for a 4 ml rollerball, or $175 for 50 ml Eau de Parfum.

Hopefully the took the expense of oud into account, and did not spare on the iris!

Robin–I thought of you when I got the notification about this. You are an iris fan, right? I normally don’t care for iris, but I will probably order a sample of this the next time I order a bottle from PPC. I have been very impressed overall with the PPC range, and even the ones I didn’t care for too much I didn’t outright hate.

Anyone else notice that lately perfume copy have emphasized the costliness and “rareness” of orris, and insisting that this fragrance uses only natural orris, in contrast to those other brands?
Is Iris becoming the new oud?

I admit to being excited about this release when it showed up in my PPC newsletter yesterday. Though, I’m about two or three of their releases behind on sampling.

I think you could blind buy a bottle with great confidence. Charna is a very accomplished nose.
