Thursday scent of the day 3/26

Posted by Robin on 26 March 2020 321 Comments

It’s Almost Friday (or it’s another Wednesday, now that every day is Wednesday). Also, AE Housman’s (Loveliest of trees, the cherry now) birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?

Me: smelling great and taking points in Robert Piguet Fracas.

Reminder: on 3/27, wear a perfume by Robert Piguet, Rochas, Roger & Gallet or Reminiscence, if you have one…

Spring Flowers ~ garden fragrance reviews

Posted by Kevin on 25 March 2020 42 Comments

As COVID-19 rages around the world, I’m grateful I’m healthy and can work from home. All around me in Seattle are people at high risk of infection, and many thousands who have lost their jobs and are struggling to make ends meet. One thing that helps me mute the distraught voices in my head and get through these long, lonely days at home (with two cats to “talk to” until my spouse gets home in the evening) is the great outdoors. And the outdoors in Seattle during spring is one glorious place, full of highly scented flowers emanating their perfumes into the cool, clean air. Today, I’d like to talk about some of the plants I’ve encountered on my walks and in my own garden during the last several weeks…

The daily lemming

Oedo-Koh's Tokyo Cherry Blossom incense: "Savor the joy of spring time, when young and old alike feel the allure of the outdoors, with the sweet, gentle scent of cherry blossoms. The custom of cherry blossom viewing took hold during the Edo Period. The somei-yoshino cherry tree, seen in groves throughout Japan today, was originally an ornamental garden variety raised in the village of Somei near Edo. Cherry blossom viewings were also an opportunity for Edo denizens to meet one another, present themselves, and perform; matching fancy kimonos were worn for the occasion, and people sang and danced to celebrate the coming of Spring." $18 for 60 sticks at Smallflower.
