The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 13 May 2020 5 Comments

For their 25th anniversary, Aedes de Venustas is bringing back the Encens Japonais candle they did for their 10th anniversary (and which Kevin said was a great candle). It's a limited edition, and 15% of the proceeds will go to the Covid-19 Emergency Relief Fund. "Escape into a magical world, where the beauty of scent stirs the imagination and evokes wondrous dreams. A luxurious scent of exotic Japanese incense intertwined with the softness of leather, balsam and the sensuality of musk. The honeyed bitterness of strawflowers lends a velvety richness to the voluptuous sweetness of precious woods." $75. (Hat tip to Kevin!)

Posted by Robin on 12 May 2020 5 Comments

Will roses get harvested in Bulgaria this summer? What about mint, lavender, vetiver and orange flower growing in other parts of the world?

Such are questions being pondered by fragrance suppliers today as the coronavirus pandemic threatens to impact the culling and transport of key perfume ingredients in the months to come.

But the overriding question is when demand for prestige perfume, highly dependent on travel retail, might rebound.
