A strange smell thought to be some sort of gas

Posted by Robin on 24 June 2020 2 Comments

On Saturday (June 20), police officers and firefighters were dispatched to Schweinnfurt in Germany because a suspicious package was leaking a strange smell thought to be some sort of gas. According to German broadcaster Bayerischer Redfunk, 60 postal workers had to be evacuated from the building. Twelve of them had to be treated for nausea, including six who had to be hospitalized.

The daily lemming

Issue 9 of Nez is out, and so is Vetiver in Perfumery: "Originating in India and cultivated principally in Haiti, vetiver is a topical grass whose tangled roots contain a fragrant essence that can be extracted via steam distillation. At once fresh, citrusy, vegetal, woody and smoky; vetiver’s essential oil is a perfume all on its own. Though once emblematic of classic masculine perfumery, vetiver has long-since become a staple of the perfumer’s palette and lent its characteristic aroma to countless compositions for both men and women." 96 pages, $25 at Luckyscent (and Issue 9 is $29 for 160 pages, plus they still have Issues 3-8 in stock).

I’m in one of Dawn Spencer Hurwitz’s new “isolation meditation experience” natural perfumes, Tea and Charcoal (and I’m overdue for a DSH new fragrance announcement, I will try to get to that today or tomorrow). I really like this one — it smells a bit like lapsang souchong, and as promised, it’s soothing.

Reminder: on 6/26, wear a perfume by Une Nuit Nomade, Ulrich Lang, Vilhelm Parfumerie or Vero Profumo if you have one…

Taking care of myself

Posted by Robin on 23 June 2020 3 Comments

This new scent will remind me of this experience, and I’m not going to think of it as a negative. Before I was laid off, I was working 12 hours a day. Now I’m taking care of myself more, and I know for sure this will tie in with my fragrance. When I use it in the future, it will bring back the memory to focus on myself and my family.
