Powdery, comfortable, beautiful, and really unique

Orris. True love is deep and resilient, and it’s very precious, like orris, the most expensive ingredient in perfumery. It’s richer than gold. Orris crawls underground, and it’s strong and difficult to destroy. But when you smell it, it’s powdery, comfortable, beautiful, and really unique, and that’s love to me.

Two of the candles from the new-ish collection by Emma Shipley, best known for her fabrics and wallpapers: Amazon (left; "The bespoke scent was created to evoke the jungle dreamworld behind the Amazon design, with juicy notes of ripening fig set on a fresh yet woody base of cedarwood creating a playful melange of aromas.") and Caspian (right; "The bespoke scent was created to evoke the fairytale story behind the Caspian design, with notes of Madagascar Vanilla Pods, complemented by resinous and warm Sandalwood.") £95 each for 650g at Emma Shipley, where you'll also find more designs and infusers.
