The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 27 July 2020 24 Comments

So let's say last week's spendy Gucci incense burner wasn't spendy enough for you, and also maybe too fussy looking? Here you go: L'Objet's Monster Ball. "L'Objet joined forces with artists (and brothers) Simon and Nikolai Haas to create a collection of "otherworldly" home accessories. Part of the range, this imaginative 'Monster Ball' incense holder is crafted from white porcelain and set on a brass base - secure your reed sticks inside it, then watch the scented smoke emerge from its horns." $1,100 at Net-a-Porter.

The smoke emerges from the horns?!? At first it was disturbing, but when I read the last sentence I found it hilarious. Somebody at NEP has a great sense of humor. Still never buying it.

I can’t consider it until a picture shows the smoke *actually* coming out of the horns.

The smoke from horns is the best part. But I can’t help but think,of a very expensive Mr.Potato Head.

I am shocked that there wasn’t a picture of it with the smoke coming out of the horns. What a waste!

This is how I envision ‘Alexa’ on the set of the old Addams Family TV show… ?

I had to really think about that reference; was it a chattering creature in a box?

That was Thing, the hand in the box who performed various helpful duties in addition to those Lurch looked after!

I meant if ‘Alexa’ had existed back in the 60’s when the tv version of the Addams Family debuted, the ‘speaker’ might have looked something like this little ‘monster ball’! I picture those pouty little duck lips actually responding to questions and requests from Morticia such as “Alexa, please order 13 dozen black calla lilies for tomorrow night’s soirée.” “Of course Mrs. Addams… the nearly dead ones, like last time?”

Yes; if it were on our TJX clearance shelf, I might overlook not seeing the smoke billowing from the little horns.

Smoke from the horns is hilarious. Smoke from those scary ass lips is far more disturbing!
It’s like a very high end Disney product from the film Monsters Inc.
