Thank you, Robin! I was bummed out about missing the peonies and wisteria gardens at Longwood Gardens, but that helped make up for it. 🙂

I liked the gardener’s talk about peonies, also, about the different kinds. I don’t especially have a preference for the amount of petals on a peony flower — if the flowers are fairly graceful and a nice color, I don’t much care if they’re single or semi-double or fully double.

I got to the peony display garden on 352-S (South Chester Road) a few years ago, and some of the herbaceous peonies smelled like the Old Garden Roses, and were in lovely colors from white to dark pink. Gorgeous!

Same here! I wish they would open. And I don’t know that display garden, I will have to google it, thanks!

As I said, it’s been a few years since I got to that peony garden — Eleanor Tickner’s peonies in Delaware County. She has/had a Facebook page for the garden. (I don’t use Facebook, so I didn’t check that.) I don’t know if the garden is still active, but it was quite a sight the May that I saw it. It’s a few miles north of Lima and Media.
