Friday scent of the day 3/27

Posted by Robin on 27 March 2020 367 Comments

It's Friday, I think? Our community project for today: wear a perfume by Robert Piguet, Rochas, Roger & Gallet or Reminiscence, if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter R.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I'm taking partial credit in Rodin Olio Lusso.

Reminder: April is Poetry Month. On 4/3, tell us about a favorite poem (or link to the text) and wear a fragrance to match.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I never could figure out the TP panic. There are lots of substitutes for toilet paper, and virtually none for ice cream. I may also have done some damage to the cake and cookie supplies…

From March 1 article in PerchNews:

“Rumours of a toilet paper shortage appear to be wildly overstated, with an industry analyst reassuring customers there’s no need to panic-buy the essential item just yet.
China is a key manufacturer of the world’s toilet paper supply and the industry is one of many hit by a general slowdown thanks to the coronavirus crisis gripping the country, sparking fears that Australia could be caught short.
But Tim Woods, managing director of market analyst Industry Edge, said shortages of anything were unlikely in Australia and stockpiling was unnecessary.
Australia imports about 40 per cent of its toilet paper from China, the rest is manufactured here.

Mr Woods said the longer the slowdown continued, the bigger the gap in production but Australia would be far down the list of countries to be affected.
“Now is not the time for panic-buying toilet paper, any more than it is time to fill your pantry with cans of baked beans,” he said. ”

            https://www.perthnow.com.au/news/health/coronavirus-crisis-the-truth-about-the-toilet-paper-shortage-rumours-ng-b881477807z

So started with supply chain rumors overseas – I believe Hong Kong and Australia, then got to be a herd mentality mania, fueled by some need for control over circumstances.

Baked beans sound good right now, though. And ice cream. Mmm. I wonder if a maple bacon and baked bean ice cream would be any good?

Since we’re all washing our hands repeatedly and carefully these days (right?), I’m washing up today with one of my last three bars of Roger & Gallet Oeillet Mignardise (Carnation) soap. They don’t make it any more, I see, and what a shame that is — it’s a terrific carnation. I keep it in the socks-and-underwear drawer so I get a little burst of it every now and then.

It is still on the French website!
      https://www.roger-gallet.com/fr-fr/Œillet-Mignardise/Savons-parfumés/Savon-Parfumé-p314.aspx
I love it and use it to scent my closets.

Oh so it is! Other European R&G websites like UK and Germany don’t have it, so I assumed it wasn’t being made any more: didn’t go to the French one (the most obvious one!) for some reason.

For extra carnationy goodness post-shower I’m wearing a couple of wee spritzes of Comme des Garçons Carnation, which is equally terrific in a different way.

Have you tried Guerlain Lui? It is another nice carnation.

I only recently got 3 more Œillet Mignardise soaps so that is why I checked when I saw your comment.

I’m sure you smell absolutely wonderful. Have you tried the Oriza L. Legrand carnations, I really like their Œillet Louis something ( too lazy to look it up), and the other one is nice as well.

I agree with you about the OL carnations, but I don’t own just have samples, Etro Dianthus is quite good too but I always go back to Bellodgia my favorite.

            27 March 2020 at 1:57 pm

My other carnations are Guerlain Voile d’Ete (carnation/ylang/vanilla, a genius combination) and Caron Coup de Fouet — not the really old vintage but old enough that it still has some crackle to it, before all the really sad reformulations took over. I’m not buying anything right now but I’ll keep an eye out for Lui.

How lovely! I have a box of these as well, though I am using a box of Hermes soaps I bought first. I just love that Carnation smell. It fragrances my entire bathroom! I found a box of three had an estate sale for maybe $5. I remember going home thinking like I had found treasure!

I don’t have any of the R related perfume houses, so I went with a few drops from my decant of MEM by Bogue. I am not a fan of lavender, but it’s a dirty caramely lavender which I enjoy.

I don’t have anything that fits the project, even in my sample collection (I gave away a box of most of them a few months ago, and there might have been some Fracas or Rochas there, but they are in a happier home now). On my walk this beautiful sunny morning I identified a craving for Arielle Shoshana Saturday and I am very happy in its sunny, pulpy yellow fruit.

A few days ago, a commenter asked for favorite hand cream recommendations, and there were a lot of recommendations in the replies to the post. It certainly seems timely.

I was already in the habit of putting hand lotion on the backs of my hands after I washed my hands. I wash my hands even more than usual now.

My hands got so bad (cracked and chapped) when I was working as a home health aide that the dermatologist prescribed a steroid ointment for my hands, and told me to put a thick hand cream on top of that after the ointment had a chance to sink in. I did that a couple of times a day at home, and they improved a lot. My hands are getting dry again, probably partly from the hand wipes and grocery cart wipes I’ve been using.

I wanted to do yard work, and Mom wanted me to go out shopping. I ended up doing a sortie to Walmart, and a sortie to Aldi’s. Although Walmart was completely out of TP by 11:30 a.m. (of course), they did have other things we wanted. Mom has had vanilla ice cream on her shopping lists for several days, and I found her a container of that. I got fresh fruit at Aldi’s.

After those trips and a late lunch/early dinner, I went upstairs and lay down for a little while. I dabbed on a bit of Roger & Gallet Osmanthus, and alternated between reading and dozing for an hour or so.

As I did not want to wear Bois Noir or Rem Musc I chose my only R perfume and sprayed lots of Chypre Siam. I still crave Chypres most this time.
Had a nice walk with a friend and her sweet dog in the sun today and ate icecream on the balcony. Will make spaetzle with cheese, bacon and kimchi this evening, which sounds strange, but tastes surprisingly good.

      Beautiful!

I watched the original Parent Trap with my kids this week, and I was trying to figure out what kind of perfume Maureen O’Hara was using – in my search I saw that in the more modern version from the 90s, the character Natasha Richardson plays, has Fracas on her dressing table.

Yes! I loved that version so much when I was a kid.

The perfume looks cognac colored it looks like it’s sort of in an oval or teardrop shaped bottle and she seems to screw the cap off and on – but you can’t get a really clear picture of it.

I watch a lot of classic films (1930s-60s) and can almost never identify the perfume bottles in them. I *think* it’s probably because the only ones whose memory has passed down over time are the big ones made by big houses, particularly the ones that are still being made. But presumably then, as now, that’s not what most women had on their dressing tables, if that makes sense.

There are some bottles that are iconic and easily recognizable, but most of what women were wearing were probably drugstore or no-name or not around for long enough to enter the collective memory, even if they were popular. So while there are a handful of perfumes and bottles that might be recognizable to serious perfumistas, that number is probably dwarfed by the hundreds of others that no one’s given any thought to since 1962. At least that’s what I’ve come up with.

I have in the past just scoured ebay trying to identify a bottle. Just search for vintage perfume or 1960s perfume, or 1950s perfume ad, etc. It may be forgotten, but it lives on on ebay!

    Good morning!

Long time lurker, but wanted to take a moment and thank the NST team for all their hard work which has brought me so much pleasure over the years, especially so in this challenging time.

Participating today wearing Globe by Rochas and loving the flashback to my college days…

SOTD is J’AdoRRRRRRRRe L’absolu. I am Charlize Theron, tall and glamorous, inexplicably climbing a rope in my gold sequined gown… uh, nope, actually short and squishy in grey sweats sitting on a grey chair in front of my computer. Like I have been for 8-12 hours a day for the past 6 days straight. BUT I am wearing earrings and a necklace and I smell great, so take that, Charlize.

They don’t close. I didn’t wear earrings for years and recently put some in. Once they’re well healed, they shouldn’t close.

Mine did not close after long period of not wearing jewelry, but I can’t wear earrings for more than an hour now or my ear lobes start to hurt — no idea why, and possibly I could get over it if I wore them for a bit every day?

I became allergic to nickel some years ago, so my earlobes soon start to itch and hurt if I wear earrings that aren’t nickel-free. I’ve heard that someone with the allergy can paint a layer of clear nail polish on the metal part of the earrings that touch their ears, and that serves as a barrier. I haven’t gotten around to trying that.

One of DC’s most beloved insight meditation teachers, Tara Brach, has taken her classes online:

    https://www.facebook.com/tarabrach

(Scroll down to March 25 for the latest one.)

You can join the livestream on Wednesdays at 7:30 pm, or watch later. The first half hour is guided meditation; the darma talk begins at 8 pm.

Personally, I think she makes the ZOOM thing of looking into the camera seem quite natural.

I was never able to attend her classes before because of the distance, so I’m taking advantage gratefully!

Pollen is popping, so no Rochas Femme yet.

    Holy cow, what a morning!

I’m in BF Au Dela in attempts to feel civilized and ladylike when I’m really feeling rough and Grrrrr-like!! In other words, I’m feeling very 1990’s and would like to feel more 1950’s! My touchstone for today is a quote by Flaubert:

“To be stupid, selfish, and have good health are three requirements for happiness, though if stupidity is lacking, all is lost”.

A little judgmental you say? Absolutely! My only consolation is that some people have directed this same stellar quote in my direction, I’m sure. Ouch! ?

    Be well!

I love smoky scents but often tobacco = cured, scented pipe tobacco, much like coffee generally = sweetened creamy coffee. It’s disappointing when what one is looking for are leaves and beans, respectively.

Striking out on R, with nary a Robert Piguet in my small collection. Need to rectify the oversight. Finally chose Rien, by L’etat libre d’orange. Hints of church pew and incense, appropriate for the season of Lent but not for this sunny day. I must get out before I lose what’s left of my mind.

Robin, the plum blossom image is gorgeous!

I’m in Rania J Cuir Andalou, for partial points. I still have part of the tiny sample and might save the rest of it; we’re supposed to get a cool front in a few days.

Tried the yoga for complete beginners video from Yoga with Adriene yesterday. Flunked the first pose when I realized I’m not flexible enough to sit cross legged anymore. I can’t believe I’m even admitting this on a blog, but there it is. I will keep trying! ????. ?‍♀️

This is a good reminder – I should try to incorporate some yogurt into my every day, Adriene is great!

Do you have a block you could sit on? Or maybe pile up a few towels or blankets to the right height to make sitting cross legged possible.

Hey fellow yogi! I am super proud of myself because I have now done a Yoga with Adriene video 10 days in a row 🙂 Keep at it, cross-legged difficulties notwithstanding.

I had a similar moment today. I was feeling pretty good about my pigeon pose (my front leg was bent, my back leg was straight; doesn’t really matter), and then I notcied that Adriene’s front hip/thigh was flush with the ground (ie, her crotch was maybe an inch or two from the ground), while my own hip/crotch area were a good six inches above the ground. I spent a full minute being envious of her flexibility until she suggested we pay attention to our thoughts, and then I giggled to myself in embarrassment.

I did many years of yoga and have come to the conclusion that certain poses (downward dog being a prime example) are not actual do-able or ever remotely comfortable/relaxing for people like me, who were born inflexible. And I’m bummed that so few instructors ever seem to consider that fact.

Downward dog is not relaxing to me, either. I could do the puppy pose in the video, but the dog will take awhile to master.

Not able to pull off the CP, but feeling quite elegant in vintage Hermès Amazone from a very generous NSTer.

I went for a meandering walk yesterday to take photos of the clouds of purple wisteria that are in bloom everywhere. For some reason, my route took me past no wisteria, but I did see dozens of purple flowers.

I’ve posted the pics on Instagram. (Each post has 10 photos, except one has three.

If you like flower pics, check out what’s in abundance on the left coast:

And for a story that’s not from the left coast, but rather the middle & north, my husband went for a meandering walk a few days ago in the industrial neighborhood near our house. He was taking photos of the landscape which prompted someone driving by to threaten him with a gun.

To be clear, he said he had a gun, which he was willing to use if my H didn’t am-scray ASAP, and also 2 children in the car who were filming the exchange. Presumably, no wisteria on this walk either.

    Hello all!
I hope you all are having a relatively peaceful day amidst the madness.
No perfume in my collection qualifies for the CP, so I’m wearing Carnal Flower today, which brings me to the story of how I *almost* acquired a much coveted bottle of the CF hair and body oil. This is, as Robin put it the other day, a case of “fiddling while Rome burns” (I find myself using this expression way too frequently lately).
Saks had a brief 25% off promotion on beauty items last week, which was exactly what I was waiting for to spring for a bottle of the lovely oil.
I placed my order (over the phone, won’t go into details why) and everything seemed to be on track until it wasn’t. For reasons unknown to me (the waiting times to speak to a customer service agent these days rival those of airlines and banks) my order was canceled and not only the promotion is no longer in effect but the item is no longer available on the website.
Oh, well. First world problem, of course, but I know you guys will understand my disappointment ?

After I missed a similar promotion on NM last week, when I saw it from Saks, I immediately pounced. If to believe the tracking distempered, it’s still coming. Though, I don’t trust Saks much after a couple of years ago I got my purchase but without a gift with it, because of which I decided to place that order with them vs. my other regular place (which would have given me at least points). Since I wanted the item itself, I didn’t go through the return-purchase elsewhere process but was quite disappointed.
Hopefully, you’ll catch another rare promotion.

hmmm . . . a few years ago I bought from Saks, the bottle was delivered as promised, but I’m quite sure it was either counterfeit (easy to guess which one, it’s got to be one of the most counterfeited perfumes in the world) or had been stored badly. It had almost no scent. I returned it without problem, but still wonder about it.

Not exactly the same scenario, but I’ve called both Saks Off 5th and Lord & Taylor (same parent company, afaict, though I’m not sure if Saks & Off 5th have the same ownership) after making purchases to request price adjustments, been assured they would happen, but never did. I’ve assumed there’s some kind of issue with their call centers, as in, whatever they promise on the phone just isn’t gonna happen.

I’ve concluded that a long walk everyday is essential to my mental health, so I’m going out every day, rain or shine (mostly rain in Portland). There are more runners, bikers, and dog walkers than usual but we can stay apart and we all exchange looks of understanding about being outdoors. The parks are closed so we stick to the neighborhood.

I used to have that Rodin perfume but traded it away last year, so the only R I have in the cabinet is Roja Dove Lilac extrait. I don’t know how small Roja’s operation is but the Lilac is nice.

SOTD is Rochas Tocade edt, powdery vanilla rose. My bottle is old, and the tag on the box says I bought it for $9.99 at Marshall’s. I find it similar in spirit to last week’s Vent Vert: both with jaunty caps, while Vent Vert threatened to blow the nasty Covid-19 virus away with its great, green wind, today’s Tocade threatens to suffocate it with its powder. Strong, powerful scents, each in their own way.

What has given me hope – and even moments of joy – this week?

The first morning a cacophony of robins awakened me in the predawn hours was the first time I think I ever smiled so early in the day!

The first shrub to bloom in our garden this spring, our Cornelian Cherry Dogwood, its tiny clusters of bright yellow flowers are staying steadfast and strong for more than two weeks and show no sign of diminishing yet. Is there a color more happy than yellow?

The first herb in my garden to say, ‘Here I am’ called to me yesterday. Fresh chives . . . Mmmm, they smelled so good when I cut them and tasted so good in our cucumber salad.

Yesterday, on what should have been MLB’s Opening Day, we put on our White Sox attire, sang ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame’ precisely at 1:10, then watched the rebroadcast the CWS sponsored on YouTube of Mark Buerhle’s 2009 Perfect Game – no runs, no hits, no errors – plus a grand slam and a spectacular catch in the 9th inning. Somehow, knowing the outcome of the game beforehand enhanced our enjoyment of it even more the second time.

Lastly, when I returned to enter my home from my daily perusal of the front garden the other day, I noticed a small tag, like a luggage tag, hanging from my front doorknob I hadn’t noticed earlier. Cut in a pretty shape from blue construction paper and hanging by a blue embroidery thread loop, someone had written on it in a soft blue ink, ‘You are Amazing.’ And so I share this with all of you Amazing NST’ers. Peace. Love. Stay safe.

Laila, that was lovely. thank you 🙂

I adore Tocade, brash thing that she is, and love that bottle. I’m so grateful to the NSTer who sent it to me.

My elementary school music classes were always fun on opening day. I would teach the kids the words to Take Me Out to the Ballgame so they can sing it confidently.

Some families have a tradition of anonymously hanging sweet notes, and sometimes flowers, on the front door of neighbors’ homes around the first day of spring, some people prefer the first day of May. I used to do that with my kids when they were small.

So glad you shared, your words brought back sweet memories for me.

I’m wearing Robert Piguet Casbah. I get a bit of smoke but mostly just CEDAR CEDAR CEDAR. Which is not really very pleasant. We have another sunny hot day here but at least there’s a breeze. I will go out for a walk later. My nice neighbour is going to make a shrimp and wild rice casserole for me today (plus one for them) and will put it and some green beans on my porch later. If I bake/cook them, all should be well, and it’ll be nice to have a good meal that I don’t have to make myself.
If anyone was ever into the Star Trek with Captain Picard, I highly recommend the new CBS All Access series “Picard.” Just watched the final episode last night and found it creative, original, and moving. I signed up just to be able to watch this, but they’re running the series for free now. It’s so good! Patrick Stewart is always wonderful.

Robert Piguet Baghari from a generous NSTer during a freebie meet. I just love it and it’s great for weather that’s transitioning into spring so it’s moved to the front of the perfume cabinet. My good news, besides the fact that my family and friends are healthy, is that I have made a Poshmark sale every day this week. That’s my source of fun money, so yay.

Ooh, nice! I recently pondered selling some bottles on ebay. I do need to thin the herd. But I’m still a bit put off about trying to sell anything, particularly with people being so paranoid about counterfeits these days.

Selling perfume and nail polish are against Poshmark’s rules because of postal regulations, buyer pays shipping and everything is done by priority mail. I agree with you on the hassle of selling perfume. I was really into painting my nails for a while and somehow accumulated at least 100+ bottles of nail polish that I don’t know what to do with ?

I acquired a similar obsession & collection during the last recession. A bottle of polish as a weekly indulgence eventually turned into major hoarding. I ended up giving most of what I’d accumulated to my hair stylists (first one, then another when I switched stylists.) I figured they had a much larger group of women acquaintances than I did and could more easily pawn everything off 😉

SotD = Roget & Gallet Lavande Royale

I adore lavender so this was an easy choice for me, I’m wearing great lashings today, more than 8 sprays. 🙂

I found this old 200 ml (!) bottle of LR at an online shop a few years ago. It was a thrill because LR was reformulated and became too perfumey to my nose. I prefer the bracing old style cologne with a woody drydown, it’s wonderful spritzed on skin or pillows at bedtime.

Today I misted Lavande Royale on the stack of vintage handkerchiefs on my desk. Trying to use less Kleenex, lol.

Hope you have a few moments of feeling fantastic on this Friday, fragrant friends.

      Adopting new ways these days.

I washed a banana yesterday before I ate it, which felt ridiculous but is apparently what I should have been doing even before our new reality ?‍♂️

I was just thinking recently will we develop new habits as a result of this virus that we will continue to practise in the future, reducing the occurrence of other illnesses? Will we be more careful? That would be a very positive outcome of this current situation. ?

It also may make people finally realize that it’s not cold, wet weather that causes colds and flu, it’s viruses. That information alone likely would make a huge difference in the amount of people getting sick each winter as they’ll now know how to protect themselves. Let’s hope!

I’ve started washing apples with soap and water, it feels silly but also sort of smart? I dunno.

And agree on using kleenex and paper towels to reduce possible spread of illness! so I just use the handkerchiefs for my watery allergy eyes, then launder them right away. 😀

I’m in the gauzy veil of vintage Madame Rochas PdT, courtesy of a past swap with Regina. This is so lovely! An aldehydic, grassy, floral chypre. Only downside is it makes me sneeze.

Today I’m in charge of hosting and planning our team “happy hour” over Webex at work. I am having fun thinking up three rounds of Scattergories for us to play, and our boss gave us the ok to have a drink in hand during this happy hour. It’s from 3-4, so it’s the end of most of our working hours. I will be sipping an apricot cider.

I’m doing my best to have a nice Friday. I did have a little cry already hearing about a local restaurant owner dying from the virus. However, I decided to do something to make me feel better, so I made a couple donations to local causes, including Seattle COVID-19 Response Fund. I do plan to order one of my favorite salads for lunch, the Cobb Your Enthusiasm (love this restaurant’s clever names).

I’m also streaming our local yet worldwide radio station KEXP to get a great variety of music and hear the voices of their wonderful DJs. They have a great app, so anyone can stream it and they’re my favorite radio station ever. I highly recommend giving them a try!

Hugs. It’s becoming a psychological challenge for sure and I am starting to feel off mood wise..basically cranky and overall weird feeling in my head.

Even a couple favorite musicians who have done some nice (imo) soundtracks dropped some music today and I don’t even care much. (Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross).

An overall blah and a feeling like I am stuck in a tunnel waiting for the light at the end. And not sure when or if the light will come.

I am on day 12 of being socially distant….

On the 12th day of distance my true love gave to me..1 box of hand wipes and some toilet paper..in a tree?

      Yep, I’ve lost it.

I am so enjoying everyone’s descriptions of spring, as we head into autumn. Autumn days can be lovely, and we had a couple of those earlier this week, but today is not one of them! Wet and windy and cold, it would be a stay indoors day in any circumstances.
I did my dash on R perfume houses when I wore Madam Rochas on Thursday afternoon. One plus of being at home is washing off the morning perfume and wearing something else in the afternoon. I’d feel a bit conspicuous doing that at work.
So, post shower (we are making sure we follow our usual routines), I’ve decided to wear Serge Lutens’ Fille en Aiguilles.

My wfh day included a trip to get covid-19 tested this am (it’s actually quite unpleasant!), a stop by a friend to pick up some new, unused N95 masks, and I sat in the car while my husband grabbed groceries. It is beautiful out, though!

Well, after we all went and bought scrubs on their directive, they sent a follow up email saying we will get hospital issued/laundered ones and not to biy any becausewe will not get reimbursed. I think they don’t want us wearing them out and home.

Want to send a shoutout/recommendation if there are any Canadians here who still need hand sanitizer:

Libertine Fragrances is making some bottles with their existing alcohol stock (lightly hinoki scented, no less!) and will ship it to you at cost if you DM them on Instagram.

I received mine today (2 small bottles, perfect for myself and Mr. Teebear) and they also very very kindly sent two incense cones as well. I will SO be spending my money when I have it on supporting amazing small houses like them when I have income again!!!

SOTD – St. Clair Casablanca. I love the orange blossom in this. it reminds me of Maroc pour Elle, for some reason. At the hospital today, get to work from home next week. The virus is coming on strong in Michigan, and our Governor Whitmore managed to annoy the President, which is led to local outpourings of support for her. Politics in the time of plague is not a pretty thing. I am going home in a little while and focusing on getting my garden together.

I agree. Definitely similar to MPE, which I wore a long time ago.

oh, weird, I made a post and got a message that I had been blocked from commenting. Very odd. I am wear St. Clair Casblanca today, not participating in the CP, but smelling very pretty indeed.

I got nuthin’ for the CP but my eye fell on a small decant of Geisha Noire, so that’s my SOTD.

Looking forward to either Italian or Thai from a local restaurant tonight. And to another episode of Crash Landing on You. The two leads are just so charming!

Just got back from a nice walk across town East to West this time. So very quiet.

Got home to find two packages. One with some knitting accessories (stitch markers, etc.) I ordered and another which was a care package from a friend in CA. Two face masks…the kind for sanding, etc. that they had as extras from the fires. Some gloves, little bits of hand sanitizer, teas and some Sees lollipops. Just about made me cry. So kind.

    Happy Friday, NSTers!

I’m late to the party but participating in the CP with Piguet Baghari. I considered going with Fracas, but I definitely made the right decision because this is really hitting the spot today.

    Be well—physically and emotionally—my fragrant friends.✌?❤️

Mine too, lillyjo. But I think it’s not terribly likely. In the meantime, though, have you seen this? It’ll help us fill the void a bit.

Thanks, Aurora! I’m glad Piguet got some love today with the CP. I think it’s sort of under-appreciated as a house in some corners of the perfumista world. (You know, not ‘hot’ because it’s not super-niche or -luxury.) A lovely weekend to you, as well!

Super quick post for now. I’ll try to get back here and read responses later tonight. Failing that, tomorrow will do.

SOTD = Reminiscence Patchouli, from the sample stash. Probably one of the best patch scents I have ever tried. It’s really hitting the spot today.

    Stay safe and well, everyone.

I had planned to wear Bandit for the CP today, but then lazed in bed a little too long and then got slammed by work once I made it downstairs to the little home office. If I can find the tiny sample, that will be my SOTE. If not, I think I have a Rochas sample somewhere.

Oh, but then I found a sample of Eau d’Italie Bois d’Ombrie sitting near my computer and dabbed a bit on wrists. People, it might be love!

Well for the CP I am in Rochas Femme, vintage. Woooow. Hi his is a powerhouse and as I bend over to read my phone it is on full blast. Why’d did the opening remind me so much of ShangriLa?

Shangri La always reminds me of a perfume that would have been worn in the early part of Mad Men. It’s so vintage smelling, I love it! I’ve never tried RF though.

You smell glorious! Femme is one of the few classic or ‘older’ scents that I’m really interested in smelling the vintage. (That is, because I’d rather be a fan of perfumes I could easily repurchase, I’m very happy with reformulations that are faithful—or at least smell great on their own merits in their current iterations—and don’t feel the need to hunt down vintage bottles.) But Femme is one that makes me wonder whenever I sniff my more current decant. I suppose I’ll have to just get on with it already and satisfy my curiosity!

I’m back. Scent of the evening is Dior Grand Bal. I haven’t looked up the notes, but it seems tuberose/frangipani/islandy. Lol, it’s really nice, I think I like it more than Orchid Soliel and Terracotta.
On my local news, the stupid people here are dumping all their “donations” outside of Goodwill and Salvation army, neither place is accepting donations so it all has to be thrown out. I know that these idiots are just using it as free trash removal. Grrr!

Likely the peach note that threw you. I haven’t smelled GB, but it looks like my nose would probably ‘read’ it the same way you did!? …Re. the ‘donations’: What is *wrong* with people?!???‍♀️

I’m trying to decide on the donations. I really ought to get my b-tt moving on reorganizing. I hope the place that takes donations will do so once this whole thing is over. The other day, I saw someone driving up to a store dumpster and throw out their personal trash!

Very late entry to the game but on Friday I wore the wonderful Eau de Rochas. So gorgeous and delicate but still a little dance of frankincense.

    I love it!
