Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Banane ~ quick fragrance review & a quick poll

The background: French niche line Comptoir Sud Pacifique released Vanille Banane in 2003. At that time, the brand had a bit of a cult following for their various vanilla + fruit blends, none of which I cared for (although I still wear two early Comptoir Sud Pacifique fragrances, Aqua Motu and L’Eau du Gouverneur). I doubt I even tried Vanille Banane. In due course it was discontinued, then in 2018 they brought it back…

Friday scent of the day 1/25

Friday, and Opposite Day and Irish Coffee Day. Birthdays today: Robert Burns, Virginia Woolf, Antônio Carlos Jobim, Etta James. Our community project for today: wear one of your favorite fragrances of this winter (unless it’s summer where you are, in which case wear one of your favorite scents of this summer).

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Aftelier Candide, which has made this bad winter a little more bearable…

The daily lemming

Not done with rose shampoo just yet, and this one is Jessica's favorite: Carol's Daughter Cactus Rose Water Sulfate-Free Shampoo ("This gentle cleanser, together with our conditioner and volume spray, help to remove excess oils and impurities without drying. It’s blended with our Cactus Rose Water recipe and helps give fine, flat hair a succulent, fuller appearance; $11.49 for 355 ml at Ulta). There is also a matching Lightweight Conditioner and Volume Spray.

Plants may be able to detect many more odors than animals

Humans have about 400 odor receptors. Elephants have about 2,000, the largest number in animals. But based on how many transcription factor genes are in plants, plants may be able to detect many more odors than animals.
