The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 15 May 2019 10 Comments

Should yesterday's Buly 1803 Lait Virginal Orange Blossom Body Milk happen to fall into my hands (not likely), I guess this is what I'd need to layer over it: Eau Triple Berkane Orange Blossom Perfume (also from Buly 1803, and thus equally unlikely). "Dazzling and bright, the scent bursts with fresh orange blossoms and leaves, capturing a soft, sweet breeze dancing through budding branches of neroli. Free from alcohol and ethanol, this water-based scent can be used on both the skin and hair without leaving them dehydrated" $243NZD (about $160US) for 75 ml at Mecca in New Zealand.

Fabulous bottle. Does anyone know what a “water-based scent” is like? I have orange blossom water in my fridge that I use in cooking–and love spilling a little on my hands, but the scent lasts only about 5 minutes.

The only ones I have tried are the CB I Hate Perfume. Way less sillage than alcohol-based, which is what you’d expect.

I tried these when they carried them at Bergdorf’s- they’re kind of milky which I guess is the emulsifier for the perfume oils. Not a lot of sillage, but some of them lasted a long time. And I’m kicking myself for not getting the Scottish Lichen one or the rose which I really liked.

Scottish Lichen? Now you have piqued my curiosity!

Yep, in addition to CBIHP, Mikmoi’s hair perfumes are the same kind of water-based, weirdly cloudy water/glycerin formula. The CBIHP & Mikmoi water perfumes lasted roughly no time at all on me. You can try them all out at Tigerlily, the next time you make it to SF!

That’s interesting. I have Byredo’s Bal d’Afrique hair perfume, and the stuff radiates… but either I grow anosmic or it genuinely doesn’t last because after 30 minutes I have trouble smelling it.

I love everything about this line (without actually having seen them in person or sampled them, I must add, lol!) but they are sadly out of my price comfort range.

Same. The only thing I have tried is the toothpaste. I am still hankering after the Alabaster but I will never buy it.

Oh gosh yes… just lovely! Maybe a ridiculous splurge at some point for some significant (or not!) occasion, but I doubt it.
