The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 5 March 2019 10 Comments

Dona's Masala Chai Concentrate ("slow steeped with ginger, cinnamon, green cardamom, cloves, black peppercorn, and organic, loose-leaf black tea") is available sweetened or unsweetened, $12 for 473 ml. There's also a Turmeric Concentrate ("a blend of freshly ground turmeric, pink peppercorn, ginger, allspice, lemongrass, and black pepper") for the same price. If anyone has tried them, do comment!

OMG the chai one sounds great! Now I just need someone to make Gin Concentrate so I can have gin flavors all the time without needing to take in the alcohol.

Oh, but that can be done…juniper bitters! I guess they do have some alcohol, but not much.

Juniper bitters!!!! I will have to find a bottle of that. Do you have a brand you like? The amount of alcohol in bitters is fine 🙂 I regularly make myself drinks with bitters (the boring Angostura or orange kind) in them and call them nonalcoholic.

I just need to buy myself a sampler set of a dozen bitters flavors.

I don’t have a single brand where I like *all* the flavors, and I have never tried juniper bitters, I only know they exist…these look pricey but interesting:

          https://www.onlybitters.com/bitter-bastards-juniper-bitters-100ml/

(And that brand also makes frankincense bitters that I am dying to try.)

          And this also looks good:

I will put in a word for Scrappy’s bitters in cardamom and in grapefruit, those are both really nice to have.

Bitters are supposed to be really easy to make!

Koyel I can recommend 18.21 bitters as a source of unusual bitters made here in the US. Their Grapefruit Lavender bitters are wonderful! They also have an Earl Grey bitters that I have not personally tried.

Thank you, their site looks gorgeous! I will HAVE to try some of them.

This is delicious. The brand is a few years old, as I recall ordering a few bottles of this in 2016, before I left the US. A bit pricey but soooo very good!

To clarify: I’ve only had the original flavor! I see they’ve branched out!

Just looking at this briefly, I didn’t realize they weren’t perfumes, and I was starting to think, “Mmm, I have to try these, do they have samples?” Then I saw the price and thought, “What? How can this be??” I guess I need a bit more caffeine this morning so my brain can engage!
