The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 21 January 2019 6 Comments

Aesop's brass oil burner: "An object of substance and beauty—a unique, refined alternative to traditional burners. Designed for Aesop by Studio Henry Wilson and crafted from solid brass. [...] Dispense five to ten drops of your favoured Oil Burner Blend into the oil well. Use a standard tea light candle." $170. If you don't already have the perfect oil you might consider their Anouk blend with lemon, bergamot and ylang ylang, $39 for 25 ml.

This is very classy. I don’t like most oil burners but this one is tempting. Just not at that price?

I have little (6″ high?) ceramic burners and boxes of plain tea lights. I can’t imagine spending that much on an oil burner. No offense to those who like the style, but for me that would be a lot of money to put out, especially since I already have something that does the same thing.

I’m trying to figure out the size of the brass burner. I guess it’s not very large. I guess I expect metal objects like this to have a raised design on them, like a filagree or a pattern of loops or geometric shapes. An appreciation for minimalism seems to have passed me by. 😉 Some do appreciate that, though. Different opinions. 🙂

I am pretty sure you have not offended anybody.

I do like the style, but like you can’t imagine paying that much for it.

I am with you…a bit too pricey for me.

It’s very heavy, about 1kg, so it’s quite an object.Nice though, tempting but sold out down here.
