Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Intense ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 3 January 2019 11 Comments

Yves Saint Laurent has launched Black Opium Intense, a new fragrance for women. Black Opium Intense is a flanker to 2014's Black Opium, which was a flanker to 1977's Opium.

WHAT IT IS An electrifying and bold interpretation of the iconic Black Opium signature. Notes of coffee surrounded by the thrill of absinthe and orange blossom.

WHAT IT DOES Black Opium Eau de Parfum Intense is the stronger, bolder and more seductive take on the classic Eau de Parfum. The opening notes of adrenaline-rich coffee give way to a vibrant heart of delicate orange blossom, energized by a thrilling aura of blue absinthe.

Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Intense is available in 10, 30, 50 and 90 ml Eau de Parfum.

Nor to me, but I do like the blue better than the black.

Is it the coffee note, that makes it intense? 😉

There is also coffee in regular Black Opium, so really this one should have had espresso.

God I never thought Black Opium EDP could get more intense than it already is.
This should be called Black Opium Nuclear!

I haven’t liked any of the flankers so far. I will give it a sniff though. I like the blue bottle too.

I wore the original Opium back in 1977 when I was 20 years old. My first job with an American service company who had opened an office in Aberdeen, Scotland to coincide with the first ‘oil boom’ here – & I received a GBP 25.00 Harrods gift voucher from them at Christmas! A large sum of money back then, & certainly not one I would have spent on perfume. Visiting my parents in Surrey over the festive season, I popped up to London & used the voucher, as coincidentally the larger of the 2 sizes then available, if memory serves, cost exactly that. It was gorgeous & I was in heaven for a good few months, & the envy of friends who, like me at the time, would not have been able to afford to buy a fragrance that cost so much. Happy days…

I would like to see a l’eau version that has green tea instead of coffee. Should’ve made the edt second time around with tea as a change.
