Happy Friday, and welcome to edition 3 of the Picture challenge! Our community project for today: wear a perfume that matches the picture, which is David Hockney’s Beverly Hills Housewife, from 1966. You can read more about the painting here and here.

While decoupling fragrance and gender may seem like a modern idea, art historian Jessica Murphy points out that it is really an old idea.
For the majority of it history, fragrance has known no gender. She sees the industrial revolution and resulting commercialization of fragrance as the period when it came to be partitioned into two genders. Before this time, fragrance was lawless — the scent of a rose or a strong musk was open to all.

Although I’ve garnered something of a reputation as a rose-lover over the past decade, I don’t review rose fragrances exclusively — in fact, my last rose perfume review was Sana Jardin Tiger by Her Side (November 2017) and my last rose body product review was even further back (September 2017). Since June is the month of roses, it seems like an appropriate time to update this situation! Here are a few rose-fragranced body products that I’ve recently tried.
