Monday scent of the day 4/16

Posted by Robin on 16 April 2018 308 Comments

Monday! Plus, World Voice Day and Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day. What fragrance are you wearing?

I’m in Hermès Myrrhe Églantine, from probably the most saturated brand in my collection. Partial credit? I am indeed still wearing my bathrobe, and I’m going to have another cup of Kenilworth Pekoe before I get back to finishing up my ???? taxes.

The daily lemming

Caswell Massey teamed up with perfumer Laurent Le Guernec and the New York Botanical Garden, and used headspace technology to come up with the four floral fragrances in their Living Botanicals collection: Honeysuckle, Gardenia, Lilac and Beatrix (rose). You can get 15 ml bottles for $25 each, or shell out $60 for all four. There are also other sizes, plus soaps and hand creams.

Wine in hand

Since opening in early March, Wax & Wine has hosted two bridal showers and a few birthday and just-because gatherings. You can walk in and  make a candle, or you can rent out the back room for a party. It costs $30 to make one eight-ounce candle ($45 for two and $50 for three),  about the same it costs to buy a 14-ounce Yankee Candle.

On a recent evening, 12 women in their late 20s and early 30s arrived at Wax & Wine, wearing long coats, long hair, and with wine in hand.

— Anyone else remember those DIY fragrance blending bars at Garden Botanika? (I think they all closed in 2001.) What they were missing was wine. Read more about the DIY candles at Philadelphia's Wax & Wine in How your nose might lead you to your next girl's night out.

2. What’s your favorite fragrance for a rainy day in April?

3. What’s your favorite spring flower, and if you have a favorite perfume based on that flower, what is it?

4. Share something wonderful with us! It can be anything — a great movie you saw, something delicious you ate, something fun you did recently — really, anything…
