Has anyone tried New Haarlem by Bond No 9 and gotten pancake syrup from it? That’s what I’m smelling from this sample. Boozy pancake syrup.

Not at all! At least not for me. I would say D600 is a yummy iris with mostly vanilla, cardamon and pepper. I have not been able to find that “magic” of classic Chanels in any other perfumes yet.
If I change my mind about Chanel week, D600 would be on the list. You smelled wonderful!

I’m wearing Une Fleur de Cassie, one of my favourite Malles. I dedicate this occasion to Austenfan who pointed me to a Dutch site selling seriously discounted travel sprays. I understand it’s going to be an online exclusive now, so fans might want to be on the lookout for discounts elsewhere as well. Plus I hear the old travel sprays will be discontinued for all scents, so it might be a good time to snap them up (they are rather reasonably priced even if not on sale).
In addition to UFdC I’m also wearing Guerlain’s Angelique Noire: I visited the Guerlain boutique today to do some Christmas shopping and sniffed a few things. I remember liking AN when I tried it in Paris a while back and it’s really very nice. I’m very tempted by the 20ml version.
I bought a 7.5ml bottle of Shalimar extrait for a friend and I’m so excited about that:)

Ah. Well I’m glad there will continue to be a smaller size, but yes the trend does seem to be toward punch-in-the-gut prices.
I think the change in ownership is showing its full effect now.

Indeed, I think that’s exactly the case – I didn’t realise they had been launched already! Haven’t seen them in Europe yet.
The 10 ml travel sprays (sold separately) are relatively new, or at least, that’s how I remember it. Used to be you could get 5 or 10 ml bottles only in coffrets, I thought. Then they added the 10 ml sprays in trios, then they started selling them separately, and perhaps now they are phasing them out for the 30 ml bottles.
Anyway, they are still doing the 10 ml coffrets, so that’s better than nothing.

Probably wise to check with your local purveyors as well to confirm whether the rumors are true. But it seems very likely that the 30ml size will replace the smaller one. I personally love the small travel size – it really is great for travel and it’s a nice way to own scents that you don’t really need/cannot afford a full bottle of (the 30ml is pretty dear).
Lovely – I’ll wear a Parfumerie Generale or two at some point this week, but today I’m in Theorema. I especially love it at this time of year, but also I have a crazy day ahead and wanted something calming.

I found a box of forgotten samples, so I picked an unlabeled sample vial from Nordstrom. Fairly positive that it’s Hermes Twilly, and 100% certain that the tuberose is giving me a bit of a headache. Still it’s nice enough that I’m gonna give it a bit longer to dry down before I make the scrubber decision! 🙂
Twilly gave me a bit of a headache too. I blamed the ginger though, lol. Hope it goes away soon.

SOTD Nishane Istanbul Sultan Vetiver from a sample. Nice but maybe a bit soapy for my taste. There’s a nice, cool anise note when first applied and wish that stuck around longer.
With a name like that, I never would have guessed it was soapy.

Sotd is Mad Madame layered with Korres jasmine body lotion. This is my go to moody fragrance choice. I found out my son won’t be getting his “big” Christmas gift, because I was stupid and trusted that his dad was taking care of it. Like he said he would. I took care of the smaller ones, but now I have to scramble for another gift, so he will be even with his sister. My son is very sweet and would never complain, but still I am upset for him, and that after all these years, his mother is still very foolish.
So sorry, lillyjo. You’re not foolish for wanting to believe the best of another human being. This is all on dad, and you are a very kind mom to pick up the slack.

When my hubby was a kid, his parents my made a cassette tape (yes, I’m that old) of their 3 kids one Christmas morning when they opened up presents. You can probably guess who was counting the number of gifts under the tree for each person. Yup, my guy! lol. I think he was about 6 or 7 at the time.

Spending the morning in Phi Une Rose de Kandahar and will be switching to either Noontide Petals or Jubilation 25. Just ordered my nephews a gaming console. It’s the Nintendo Nes and I hope they love it. I also hope that my order from Andy Tauer comes today. The Data Miner soap that I ordered came on Saturday. I am happy that all of my Christmas shopping is done. I am not looking forward to wrapping.

I looooove Iris Nazarena, in 6 months I emptied more than half of a 10 ml travel spray…. It must be in my top 3 of most worn scents in 2018.
I have a scent log, hmm almost end of year…time to start counting 😉 (though I sometimes forgot to write down what fragrance i wore).

I seem to catch one or two cold viruses every winter, so no surprises here, but I just received two Dusita samples (Erawan and Fleur de Lalita) and now I cant smell them. Booo.

Part of me hopes I wont fall for any of them haha, its expensive stuff. But I also sample because I just like trying stuff.

I’m dedicating this week to my Oriza L Legrand sample pack, choice for today is Relique d’amour, which is very lovely, but the small spray disappears rather quickly. So I topped it of with some Bois d’Encens which is the fragrance that converted my to incense.
I wish it lasted longer, I love Relique.
It is very nice but quite fleeting for an Oriza.
I also really enjoyed Relique when I tried it a couple weeks ago but wish it lasted longer. I only have a dab sample so I wonder if spraying would make a difference.
I guess that this one needs to be sprayed generously to last. Same goes for TDC’s Bergamote. If I spray that one liberally it will last all day.
Oh, please give us some updates as you try the different scents. I have Eau de Crypt, which lasts FOREVER, so it’s surprising and disappointing to hear Relique is so short lived. ?
I’ve already tried a few others that were all long lasting, but I’ll keep you posted during this week!

I think you mean Secret Joly? It’s one of their more recent offerings. And no, unfortunately my sample pack does not include either Secret Joly or Les Tourterelles de Zelmis. It has all the others though.

Starting to tidy up the condo, pack a few things and wash clothes before we head home on Wednesday. I want to enjoy the last couple days here and not be rushed by the hubs with his usual method of throwing our cooking stuff, dishes, blankets and other things into the storage containers for the closet without any organization! I am wearing L’Artisan Mont de Narcisse and drinking a cup of green tea.
Mont de Narcisse is my newest bottle that I have purchased. I received a sample about two months ago, and used the whole sample vial quickly. It was love at first sniff 🙂

I am really terrible at describing fragrance, but this is what I get: smokey leather, but green at the same time. Peppery. Very pleasing to my nose.
I’m excited about trying it too. Based on descriptions and reviews I suspect it’ll be a win. So far none of my go-to sampling websites have it 🙁

I wore Cacharel LouLou to work. And then YR Neroli when I got home.
LouLou is very weather/temperature dependent. I get a bug spray scrubber when it’s warm, and a nice cherry vanilla when it’s cold-er (English cold . . . brr). Neroli on the other hand doesn’t fare well in the cold . .. too sweet.
You may like Tom Ford List Cherry which I wore yesterday.

I wanted a happy scent to combat the Mondays so I’m wearing Smell Bent 1999. It’s a fizzy grapefruit soda. Yesterday, I wore my favorite Smell Bent perfume Prairie Nymph. It’s another case of smelling exactly as described on their website – honeyed beeswax, carnation, clementine, and soft musk. It’s an addictive scent.
I really like Smell Bent. Affordable, fun, and unique fragrances. I’m going to give PN a try next time I place an order.

Only scent right now is some Ambrosine left in my hair from yesterday. I love this scent, but something in it causes an immediate skin reaction in me, so it only gets sprayed in hair and on clothes these days . . . sigh. At least it lasts until the next shower that way!
I have never even heard of Ambrosine and I just looked it up. The notes look nice!
SOTD is the beloved Jungle l’Elephant. Again! It’s cool and rainy here (currently in Brookings OR), but we had a spectacular sunset yesterday. So far today just a drizzle here and there. High wind and surf warnings along the coast, so I may hang out here for a couple of days. Driving this behemoth in high winds is not fun, but when you’re crawling along 101 with no shoulder and sheer cliffs, it can be downright terrifying!

I kind of wore this today. While trying to decide what to wear I sniffed the atomizer and accidentally got some on my nose! In the end I went with Tea for Two.
Oh my gosh – I hate when that happens and then you can’t get rid of it…like trying to get soap out of your mouth.
That is downright scary. My worst driving experience was driving essentially blind in thick fog in San Francisco, guided only by the tail lights of the car in front of me. In hindsight, I probably should have pulled over but that would have been dangerous as well!

I’ve landed on my dessert in a stick! I am making 2 things:
1. 2/3 mini croissant with a honey wheat braided pretzel topped with Biscoff cookie butter to serve as the tree trunk. I will use green piping gel to draw a stylized tree with red, blue and yellow dots for the lights. Some may be drizzled with chocolate if I have any left
2. Lollipop made with mini popcorn cakes with cookie butter in the middle )some dusted with cinnamon), covered with chocolate and decorated with marshmallow snowflake or snowman
If I remember to take pictures, I will post them on Instagram. The hajusuuri account has zero posts right now.
Commuting Woes No. 618 and 619:
– Mother with school-aged child (maybe 9 or 10 yo) shoved a woman aside while telling her child to sit. The woman who was shoved muttered something under her breath and the mother asked “What did you say? My child needs a seat.” The woman just moved on to stand somewhere else. I was 2 seats away from the disputed seat. Had the mother not had an attitude, I would have gladly given up my seat for her to sit next to her son (well, as long as the person sitting next to me shifts her seat).
– 10 NJ Transit trains were cancelled this morning. I didn’t even bother to find out the reason because they are all lies anyway. This week will be like the summer when the train engineers call out unexcusex because they are already on vacation mode and there are no consequences for doing so.

I like this CP, as it’s fascinating and surprising how many perfume names involve numbers. I feel quite clever for joining in by wearing Borneo 1843 today. LOVE IT! I sprayed lavishly, too, as I was only going around to do a few errands and then get a manicure (along with my mom–the nail salon ladies were all excited to get to see my mom) (whose nails are far better than mine!). We have a glorious clear sunny day with 70 degrees right now. It’s so lovely! This will be a week of doctor’s appointments I’ve arranged for my mom, plus one more “fun” trip, this time to a hair salon. Hope our nice weather keeps up.

Avignon smells like 7Up for the first few minutes. It’s addictive.
I’m in a wonderful perfume rut. I keep coming back to Avignon, Tam Dao, and Ambre Narguile. They suit the cool, gray weather here.
My kids are busy young adults, I’m tired and slightly overscheduled. Nobody is interested in holiday decorations. Hmmmm, maybe nobody will notice until it’s too late!

Interesting… I get a distinct whiff of chamomile tea at the start of Avignon. It’s funny how different people get different things from the same perfume.
