Dave Apel, who started in the perfumery business in 1980, says Philyra learned as any perfumer would. “It essentially learned the combinations of materials that are aesthetically pleasing, if you will — things that have been traditionally seen to work together, a kind of balance of how the materials are harmonious or not, and where there is signature within a fragrance,” he says.

Activates certain neurotransmitter receptors

In a new study published today (Oct. 23) in Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience researchers found compelling evidence that the stress relief that comes from lavender comes the way that linalool, an alcohol that occurs naturally in the plant, activates certain neurotransmitter receptors in the brain via olfactory neurons.

I have popped out of town for a quick trip, and neglected to bring a single scented thing with me other than Lush Rose Jam. When I get home this afternoon I will put on something lovely and report back.
