John Varvatos + Nick Jonas JVxNJ ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 2 October 2018 11 Comments

John Varvatos has launched John Varvatos + Nick Jonas JVxNJ Crimson,* a new fragrance for men. JVxNJ Crimson is a follow-up to JVxNJ, and hopes to 'capture the intoxicating energy of the big city' at dusk.

Notes for the spicy fragrance include bergamot, Cuban rum and carbonated coffee.

John Varvatos Nick Jonas JVxNJ Crimson is available in 75 and 125 ml Eau de Toilette.

*Update: per a brand spokesperson, the official name of the fragrance is just JVxNJ.

A carbonated coffee accord? Don’t want to drink it, still less smell like it. Good Lord. Someone needs to set up a foundation to stop the spread of that olfactory affliction, flanker-itis –a wasting disease.

Just to be clear, I am not sure this is a flanker or just the second in the series…the word Crimson actually does not appear on the packaging, and I see some places are now referring to the first one as JVxNJ Blue.

Meanwhile, I totally sympathize with your sentiments but I also am hugely attracted by carbonated coffee accord, and sadly I might want to drink it too.

That said, I did not smell the first one and will probably never smell this.

When I still drank sugar, I used to loove Manhattan Special Espresso soda (I don’t like the diet taste ????). I’m curious as well…

I have never had it but now I want one! I try to avoid sugar drinks and diet drinks too though.

Don’t mind me — got my grump on today. I’m glad if someone else can appreciate carbonated coffee as a scent accord. (I confess I am curious as to how carbonation might be rendered as a smell-able sensation..)

Oh please, be as grumpy as you like! I always am 🙂

And it remains to be seen if I, or anyone, will actually appreciate carbonated coffee in perfume, right? It might be a hot mess.

I remember drinking carbonated coffee *years* ago in Portland: Black Tiger, I think, from Coffee People. Late 90s. It was delicious. They also had very good espresso ice cream…

I love a good coffee ice cream.

So is this going to become the new trend for Elizabeth Arden celebrity fragrances? Partnerships with the designer to get their name on a product, not just be a face for the scent?
