The daily lemming

Bath bombs for the shower? Yuzu Soap's shower tablets promise to scent your shower if not your person: "To use, place one tablet on the shower floor or bathtub edge in one of the two corners closest to the water stream (but not directly in the water stream). Drizzle water onto the tablet to activate. As the tablet fizzes, the essential oils will be released into the shower. For best use and to help prolong the scent, it is highly recommended to place the tablet in a small dish (so the water doesn’t drain immediately after activating the tablet)." (Not surprisingly, they also sell a small square dish for that purpose.) Available at Anthropologie in Lavender Sage or Verdant Variety (3 each lavender sage, eucalyptus mint and orange mint), $26 for 9 tablets. If you buy directly from Yuzu Soap, you can also find Lemon Tea Tree, Rosemary Lime and Bergamot Lime.

I’ve used shower bombs before and found them to be not terribly exciting. If someone uses this particular brand, please let me know if you have a better experience than I did!

I was intrigued by these but I think I don’t get the point. Is all you get, essentially, a smell? In which case why not use use a diffuser or room spray?

This is *exactly* what you get: an atmospheric smell. The heat and rising vapor of the water disperse the scent just like a diffuser does. I personally would put a bit of the shower bomb in a diffuser and call it a night. Plus you can save a bit of money doing it that way.

Or, I’ll stick with shower gel — less fuss, and I’m using it anyway so might as well get my atmospheric smell while I’m at it.

I used to use something similar (but much cheaper!) when my sinuses were bad. It was eucalyptus and menthol, which combined with the steam in the shower, was really helpful. And there’s your TMI for the day. 😉

That sounds like a good idea! Who made it, do you remember?
