French perfume house Le Galion has launched L'Âme Perdue, a new fragrance for women.
It is said this is one of the most beautiful flowers which has never existed. Exotic, foreign, and yet so familiar. It is said that it is worth more than all the gold of which kings can adorn their palaces. More than all the love that men can put in their heart. The most fabulous myths and legends were woven on her beauty. For her, wars divided men.
It is said that one day, in the roaring twenties, it marked the heart of a young perfumer so deeply that he wanted to compose his first fragrance around. But its perfume fade in an ethereal breath; elusive, fainting as it flourished. He could not bring himself to let this beauty escape, spinning between his fingers and through his heart. He forgot everything, thinking only of itself, going through this garden where the lost souls bloom.
In the lineage of its history, Le Galion celebrates the woman once more and adds a new chapter to its history. The notes feature lemon, mandarin, cardamom, coriander, white pepper, datura, jasmine, rose, ylang ylang, red lily, cloves, cinnamon, plum, patchouli, amber, benjoin, Peru balsam, rosewood, vanilla, honey and oak moss.

Sounds nice. Somebody was blogging about this one recently — Portia, maybe? I think so — and it caught my attention then despite the stupid ad copy.
That copy had me grinning from ear to ear, even with the translation glitches. It never existed. Then something happened in the 20s (presumably 1920s 🙂 ). And now we are celebrating the woman once more.
Notes? Oh. I should go back and look at those. I was so delightfully distracted!!

L’Ame Perdue was also the name of an early Lanvin fragrance. I’m glad they reclaimed this lost soul, if only by name.

Had the chance to order a sample some weeks ago; absolutely beautiful. Plummy, a bit boozy, honeyed Moss. Le Galion is becoming one of the best re-introduced houses with beautiful fragrances and cared for formulas. None has disappointed so far, and L’ Âme Perdue is a beautiful Femme/Mitsouko re-interpretation for the 21st century.
