Caswell Massey LX48 ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 4 January 2018 6 Comments

Caswell Massey LX48

Caswell Massey has launched LX48, a new fragrance for men.

We couldn't be more proud to be introducing LX48 - the first new cologne fragrance for Men introduced by Caswell-Massey in over thirty years. This niche fragrance is inspired by the storied men’s colognes developed for private clientele at Caswell-Massey’s famous New York City store on Lexington & 48th Street - a hint of the mid-century man with leather and tobacco; distinctly made for the twenty-first century.

LX48 is a cologne for anyone with confidence and ambition. Leather, Tobacco, Cedarwood, and Oakmoss bearing a carnal overtone.

Caswell Massey LX48 is available in 88 ml Cologne (in 18% Eau de Parfum concentration), $110.

First time I see the word niche used in ad copy and by a non-niche brand that obviously wants to jump on the bandwagon of the niche success.
Wasn’t Caswell-Massey and its shaving soaps and toiletries at every mall in the early 80s?
I guess whoever acquired the brand now saw the potential for re-categorizing it as niche to make it more exclusive and up the prices.

Regardless, I’d be interested in trying this EDP strength scent especially with the mentioning of oakmoss that got me drooling.
And the packaging looks nice too.

Niche has so little formal meaning I don’t care who uses it 🙂

That bottle looks so elegant. The black cap with a golden strip around it looks very appealing.

I can’t decide if I like that bottle or not — would have to see in person.

It does look less appealing on their website, when it’s shown just as a packshot, not a compositon on the table

Now I know where to go for that hint of mid-century man, but I doubt I’m able to muster up the confidence and ambition required.
