In this programme, Bridget Kendall and guests explore the modern history of perfume, including its flowering in France and the explosive chemical discoveries that helped to make fine fragrance what it is today. They also explore perfume’s ancient roots and ask: what’s in a name?

Bridget is joined by scientist and critic Luca Turin, writer and curator Lizzie Ostrom and the perfumer Thomas Fontaine. Also featuring William Tullett and James McHugh.

Please comment if you've ever tried any body products from Yard Etc! I'm tempted by all of it, but especially the Green Tomato Hand Balm ("A nourishing hand balm that makes your sore hands soft and smooth again ... "fragranced with an excitingly aromatic and fresh scent of unripe, green tomatoes." Other fragrances include Lemon Nettle, Oak Moss and Dog Rose. 70 ml for $14 at Beautyhabit.

Gucci Bloom ~ fragrance review

Gucci Bloom

Bloom1 is one of the first two Gucci fragrances conceptualized by Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele. As with Gucci Guilty Absolute Pour Homme, Michele worked with perfumer Alberto Morillas. In each of these fragrances, Morillas used a new, “natural” ingredient; Guilty Absolute Pour Homme contains an extract of Nootka cypress and Bloom presents Rangoon creeper (“harvested” via headspace technology in India — so claims Gucci).
