Happy Wild Kingdom Friday! (It’s also Bill of Rights Day, Cupcake Day and International Tea Day.) Our community project for today: wear a perfume with an animal in its name. If you don’t have one, match your perfume to an animal and tell us about it. Thanks to Elisa for the suggestion!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m wearing LesNez Turtle Vetiver Front. (I think I am, anyway. The sample is badly labeled and it could be another of the LesNez Turtles…)

The daily lemming

If it's as cold where you are as it is here, a box of flowers from someplace warm might sound tempting. L'Ami Provencal Lavande de Provence: "Dried culinary lavender from Provence arrives in this attractive retro gift box, featuring a beautiful French girl gathering lavender flowers in the field." $13 at Beautyhabit.

Nothing but air and fragrance

The novel promotion featured cans of Wild Banana Orchid from Grand Cayman, Puerto Rican Coffee from San Juan, Sugarcane Rum from St. Kitts and Island Coconut from Cozumel. The aluminum cans contained nothing but air and fragrance, but could be "popped" like a traditional soft drink.

Molinard Les Amoureux de Peynet

French perfume house Molinard recently launched Les Amoureux de Peynet, a fragrance inspired by French illustrator Raymond Peynet. That name didn’t mean anything to me at first, but once I did a quick search, I realized I’d seen those “lovers” before. Peynet first sketched the duo of the wispy-haired, bowler-hatted violinist-poet and his perky lady-love in 1942, but they appeared in his artwork and on countless trinkets throughout the 1950s and 1960s. (Just check eBay, and you’ll see what I mean.) The lovers often appeared together on a park bench — that is, when they weren’t canoodling in a gazebo, a rowboat, or some similarly whimsical venue…
