The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 29 December 2017 13 Comments

Yes, please! Scented hot water bottles in Jasmine, Sandalwood & Orange (left), Rose, Geranium & Neroli (center) and/or Rosemary, Lemon & Marjoram (right). "We have developed a range of hot water bottles with a difference. Each of the 2 litre PVC bottles has been infused with pure essential oils. The soft fragrance within the hot water bottle is enhanced by the heating process of being filled with hot water. The combination of soothing warmth and relaxing scents is perfect for helping you drift into a restful sleep or simply snugging up with on the sofa. The bottle retains its scent so you can enjoy it time and time again. The removable knitted covers are in an attractive stripe design in colours to represent the scent of the hot water bottle." £19.99 each at Aroma Home.

These are cute and seem very functional! Funnily enough, I was looking for shirts to bring with me on vacation and I unearthed some Columbia Sportswear and Woolrich shirts that had the same color stripe pattern combinations as the picture. None of them made it to my suitcase because a test wearing revealed my muffin top.

I have never owned a hot water bottle, but these look really tempting!

Muffin top is not good. Vacation -> very good.

Cute! Reminds me of curling up with one in bed on a cold winter night in Saskatchewan.

Really? I have never owned one, never known anyone who owned one, and I think of it as an “old world” thing, but maybe there are whole swathes of society using them and I just never knew! It is such a good idea, especially as I keep the heat in my bedroom turned almost all the way off.

I never turn the heat on in my bedroom and the window is open most of the year. I come from a long line of fresh air fiends. My grandmother left her bedroom window open 365 days a year, even when it was -40. The screens kept the bugs out in the summer and the snow out in the window.

The winter, I meant to say at the end.

My stepmother did that! I don’t go that far, but we have radiator heat and I keep mine turned nearly off — I do think I sleep better that way, and get sick less often. It does make it hard to get into bed in the winter though.

I have one sitting on my chest right now (I am sick). Hot water bottles also give many women relief from menstrual cramps — it was a revelation to me the first time I tried it. And yes, they are great for warming up cold sheets and frozen toes. I keep meaning to knit a cover, myself. Should do that in the New Year!

It’s been a long time since I owned a hot water bottle (the last one sprung a leak after two years of use) and I’ve been making do with a heating pad instead. But you have to plug it in, and that’s not always convenient.

wonder if these ship to the US?

Yes, not dying to have water leaking in my bed on a cold night, that’s a deterrent!

They list prices for UK & EU shipping and that’s it, so I suspect they do not ship here.
