Expected to exceed sales projections this year by 20 times

Posted by Robin on 21 November 2017 16 Comments

Apparently his customers really want (and need) F–king Fabulous. The eau de parfum, priced at $310 for 50 ml., is expected to exceed sales projections this year by 20 times. It will soon surpass Soleil Blanc as the biggest Private Blend launch to date. The fragrance launched in limited quantities on Sept. 6 and sold out in a day, and was quickly brought back for a limited time before distribution was broadened to meet customer demand.

More evidence that we are actually living in some kind of nightmarish alternate universe.

Wait, have any of you actually tried it? Is it any good? I don’t recall having seen a review. If it IS good, I don’t see why everyone’s so upset about it doing well.

If it sold out on the first day, it must have all gone to people who had not smelled it and bought it because of the name?

Haha I loved it when I tried it and ended up buying a 250ml bottle. If you don’t like Tonka then steer clear !

PS. At least it’s now in wider distribution as it’s also in Selfridges stores in the uk from tomorrow as they consider themselves young and ‘edgy’ enough to handle the name in an actual department store. The original bottles were going for double the retail price on eBay so at least this should calm that down !

Never got to smell it, perhaps now I’ll get the chance. I love tonka.

I love tonka so will try it when available. That said, I question the math because it can be manipulated which makes it fake news. For instance, if TF made 200 bottles, released / test-marketed 100, “projected” sales of 5 out of the hundred, then wowowee, by golly sales exceeded projections 20x. If they projected sales of 2 and sold 100, OMG, that’s f-ing 50x, 50x people, 50! How f-ing fabulous is that???

I have tried it, and it is quite nice. Surprisingly quiet and well behaved for a TF. On my skin it is mostly iris, with tonka, almond, and a goodly dose of polite leather. Somewhat gourmand-y, and yet I like it even though I’m not generally a gourmand fan. Or even an iris fan. In short: not f-ing fabulous but quite well done. With a different name it would probably sell respectably anyway. Most likely I’ll buy it at some point.

And should you acquire it, I would happily be in for a split should you go that route.
