Diptyque Scented sticks

Do I want these? I have no idea. Diptyque's Scented Sticks in benjoin: "Inspired by an unprecedented technology, this surprising object offers a new way to perfume your home by trapping the fragrance concentrate in a sheet of paper. Several scented sheets are then rolled together to form a stick with a persistent sillage. The paper stem can be used on its own. A bouquet of them can also be placed together in a vase. Sold with three small paper cones, the perfumed stems of the Benjoin scent evoke creativity. The cones and stems can be arranged at different angles to create your own unique sculpture. It is a lightweight, surprising object that offers new ways to diffuse a scent in your home." $78.

Oooh, these look nice but they clash with my furnitire and non-minimalist lifestyle.

    They look cool, anyway!

I did make it to the Aesop store this weekend to smell the new room sprays. While Olous was my favorite overall, all three were pleasant. They were all sort of that similar Aesop vibe (at least that’s my take): fresh, green, outdoorsy, branches and leaves. Possibly outside of the store, I would be able to get more differences among them. Olous was a bit more citrussy, but I didn’t get much cedar (and they don’t mention cedar on their website). Probably not something I need, but I enjoyed trying them.

So, nice but not so fantastic that you reached for your wallet, then. Thanks so much for the report!!

I like many of the Diptyque products but $78 is crazy because in all honesty you could make this yourself for a few bucks. You can get tincture of benzoin aka Friars’ Balsam at any drugstore, and how hard it is to make a few cones of black paper, stick in some bamboo skewers (colour them with a Sharpie if you like), and drip a little balsam on them?

We need Kevin to do this! (It’s way outside of my skill set.)
