Guerlain Le Frenchy ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 3 October 2017 12 Comments

Guerlain Le Frenchy

Guerlain has launched Le Frenchy, a new masculine fragrance in the Les Parisiens series.

Le Frenchy is styled as Guerlain's 'verbena of the 21st century', the verbena note having 'starred' in Guerlain perfumes since the 19th century. It was developed by house perfumer Thierry Wasser, and notes for the aromatic woody citrus include bergamot, verbena, petitgrain, lemon, neroli, lavender, sage, vetiver, tonka bean and amber.

Guerlain Le Frenchy is available in 100 ml, €210.

Good news from Guerlain…a plausible masculine! Now please release an oakmoss-containing Derby, and all will be forgiven. If Oriza Legrand can bottle gold (Chypre Mousse), why can’t these guys again?

Really, that’s all you want — a plausible masculine and Derby with oakmoss?!? My list is MUCH longer 😉

But it kind of sounds like Azzaro Pour Homme, huh?

Well, it’s a verbena based citrus — it sounds like a zillion other things.

I’ve always felt that Azzaro PH was an aromatic fougere with a liquorice twist….That over the course of reformulations became less animalic (“vulgar” – L.T.) and more barbershoppish (fun to say in a Sean Connery accent. Actually Azzaro at its best kind of smells like young Sean Connery at the barbershop). This sounds more like it’s drawing on the eau de cologne tradition (Guerlain’s own Eau de Cologne Imperiale, etc.)?

Sounds nice. Just a shame it’s only available in Guerlain boutiques and department stores with dedicated Guerlain counter. I don’t have any of these 2 available nearby. Gonna try my luck in swapping groups 😉

I am going to try my luck by not even trying a €210 verbena.

      Yes, it’s embarrassingly awful.
