Diptyque is making their city exclusive candles available online for 10 days. Shown is the Miami candle (other options include Shanghai, London, Beverly Hills, Tokyo and Berlin) : "The scent of the Miami candle offers an exotic aroma of delicate magnolia blossoms enhanced by delicious citrus notes. Reminiscent of the tangy lemon and lime native to the city, the candle suggests hints of vanilla while xx [sic] to the tropical atmosphere. Looks like someone forgot to edit the copy…maybe s/he got intoxicated by the exotic aroma of magnolia or maybe by some other substance. I do like the green glass though but not for $70….I can probably buy something much nicer at Home Goods for a quarter of the price.
Some of the candles have no description at all (in English, anyway) so Miami is better off than others 🙂
Mmm this sounds lovely and the box is gorgeous, but $70 for a candle? Think of the decants you could get for that!
It’s about $5-6 more than the cost of a plain glass Diptyque candle. It isn’t cheap but it isn’t as bad as some brands. But yes — I have trouble making myself pay that much for a candle, not least because I usually end up unhappy with candles for one reason or another.
I have a small Diptyque candle in Rose (it was a GWP) and it’s very nice, but not 6-7 times nicer than a $10 candle! That said, Diptyque is one of my favorite perfume houses.
Well, when I was under the illusion that I actually had money, I bought the Beverly Hills candle. I called the store and they sent it to me.
It’s lovely–the scent, and the color and design.
It sits on my dresser, near my closet door, and I catch little wisps of the scent as I walk in.

I am waiting for someone to do a city exclusive for Evansville, Indiana. Although I think Eau de Camille was my de facto neighborhood exclusive–mown grass and honeysuckle.
