Try Street Perfume

Commuters waiting for their ride are presented with a chrome cylinder, the inside glowing blue, labeled “Try Street Perfume.” If they’re bold enough to stick their mitts into the mystery orifice, they’re rewarded with a spritz of hyperlocal fragrance—this week’s is “Economic Development”; “Hollywood Springtime” is next week’s offering.

[Alan] Nakagawa is the very first ”Creative Catalyst Artist-in-Residence” at the L.A. Department of Transportation, a year-long gig that involves working with the agency’s Vision Zero team to reimagine how people perceive streets.

      It’s a cute idea, and way better than scenting the whole bus stop. I like the voluntary aspect.

    Heh, Chandler Burr said people in LA do not wear perfume. This may be a way to reintroduce perfume to the masses 🙂
