Olfactive Studio Woody Mood ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 5 July 2017 8 Comments

Olfactive Studio Woody Mood

French niche line Olfactive Studio has launched Woody Mood, a new unisex fragrance. Woody Mood was inspired by a 1973 Roger Steffens photo of giant sequoias, The Redwood Alien.

Something about it feels ritualistic, shamanic almost. The deeply rooty, spicy smell of the woods, herbs, and spices will run through your spirit like a hot knife through butter, cleaning out the dust in your mental corridors. A leathery, tart combination of black tea and incense is the bridge that settles you into the warm, smoky base of styrax resin, leather, and patchouli. The final impression is restful: it is all woodsmoke, red resin, and the chocolatey dampness of hummus-rich earth.

Woody Mood was developed by perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour. The notes include bergamot, ginger, clary sage, saffron, sequoia, spikenard (jatamansi), black tea, incense, patchouli, leather, styrax and cacao.

Olfactive Studio Woody Mood is available now at Essenza Nobile in Germany, in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

I tried this one at Esxence. It was nice and warm, nothing groundbreaking though.

Sounds right up my alley, but that alley is double parked with other perfumes that sound similar.

Ditto. Plus the name is dodgy-sounding. LOL.

The name was definitely not given by any one who hangs around adolescent English-speaking boys — or just my husband. But I am intrigued by the notes and BD nevertheless.

Okay, I have finally smelled this and love it. It dries down to a slightly sweet, slightly powdery resinous wood scent. Definitely FBW, despite the lousy name.
