I’m a man (still)

A new spot for Christian Dior Eau Sauvage: "A boat. A girl. Alain Delon. The saga continues." The footage is from the 1967 film The Last Adventure.

I love this, and it reminded me that there’s an Alain Delon line of perfumes. I’ve always wondered if the perfumes were related to the actor – turns out they are.

I didn’t do quite enough research to figure out if they’re going to use current images of Alain Delon in the campaign, or just old footage like this ad does. (He was announced as the new face of Dior recently.)

On a practical note, I’m wondering if the Eau Savage decant I bought in May was from this new release or from older stock. Did they ever stop producing it?

So far, I have only seen them using old images (at least, for Eau Sauvage). It would be cool if they’d use new.

So far as I know they have never stopped making it, but I am not an expert on the subject.

    Danger ! Danger ! Will Robinson !!
This is the reformulation of Eau Sauvage Parfum, which was bergamot, vetiver, and myrrh.
Not related to 1966 Eau Sauvage, and the reform apparently dropped the myrrh.

I gave up on keeping track of how they’re ruining Eau Sauvage, in fact, I give up on keeping track of how Dior is changing all their scents on a regular basis. When it comes to Dior, buyer beware, in general.

Eau Sauvage edt still reminds me, at least, of much older versions. I wear it often.

Right, but I would not buy another bottle without smelling it again — they redo everything on an unusually regular basis.

I hate it when a company tries to “improve” a classic fragrance. I love the old Eau Sauvage. When my son was about 18 mos. I taught him to say “Eau Saivage” with a big smile on his face. It would have made a great commercial. Tag line, “You’re never too young for a classic.” I put some Old Spice on his wrist and my kid asked, “Is this for old mens?”
