Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Axis Mundi

Indie perfume house Dawn Spencer Hurwitz has launched Vert et Noir, Axis Mundi, Chinchilla, Souvenir de Malmaison and Vanilla Chantilly.

Vert et Noir ~ "A spin on the traditional ‘eau de cologne vetiver style’ inspired by my son’s mini green and black basketball. (Really). At once it looks like a sport accessory and an intriguing citrus fruit… I was immediately struck by how much it seemed like a perfume. So bright and fresh; so beautifully designed. Unisex but slightly masculine. Altogether summery. And so it is. Vert et Noir is the third in the “Summer Eau Fraiche” series for 2016, continuing the theme of using vegetable notes in the design, there are lettuce, celery, cucumber, and melon notes combined with lively citrus which shifts into a lovely ozonic, grassy vetiver drydown mixed with subtle woods and a slightly salty musk. Black pepper, and reglisse noire hook into the vetiver to create the ‘black’ contrast to all that crisp, brilliant green."

Axis Mundi {the cosmic center} (shown) ~ "As the title states, the Axis Mundi is the cosmic center of the world; the link between Heaven and Earth. Perfume, or Per Fumum (through smoke), just might be the manifestation of the concept…a double helix of prayers released from Earth’s sacred (material) offering taken through the air to the divine, celestial realm. The ritual censer is lit filled with the most beautiful and costly incense carrying our greatest wishes, hope, and prayers to the heavens. The smoke rises and releases the sweet and lightly charred aroma. It is the Axis Mundi."

Chinchilla ~ "At the Grand Hotel, where the elite and gorgeously tailored meet for soirees, dancing parties, and other hedonistic (and luxurious) meetings, the elegant always wear their chinchilla. Dreamily soft, sensuously cozy, and yet so chic; only the finest would do. Our vintage-inspired Chinchilla is as sexy as the name implies, and imbues the wearer with the scent of warm skin, fur, and a cozy honey-musk animalic. Go ahead…wrap yourself up in Chinchilla."

Souvenir de Malmaison ~ "A famous rose was plucked then cultivated from Chateau de Malmaison; residence of famous lovers, Napoleon and Josephine Bonaparte. A famous fragrance style of the early 19th Century, Malmaison is the spicy floriental style based on carnation, rose, spices, woods, and musk. Now we find these two influences coming together to create a new carnation soliflore fragrance with added pepper, clove, and a rich base of vanilla, balsams, cedar, sandalwood. And for a twist on the animalic nuance, there’s ambergris. The rose in the heart is the perfect compliment to the rich and spiced carnation, yet remains balanced for men or women."

Vanilla Chantilly ~ "Soft, airy, and with subtle hints of spice, Vanilla Chantilly is a light fluff of creamy vanilla. It just might be the perfect vanilla for those who want a skin scent that is neither too sweet nor too heavy."

Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Vert et Noir, Axis Mundi, Chinchilla, Souvenir de Malmaison and Vanilla Chantilly are available in a variety of sizes and formats, for more information see the website.
